This is what I love about this site...great tech without the asshole nature of cornercarvers.com...and gobs of helpful insight from tons of people...sorry to hijack..back on topic!

Hi Bizzy,

Don't take what I posted as being hostile towards you it wasn't ment to be it just sort of sounded like it and I'm sorry it came out that way. That rant was pointed at the people who won't do their homework on suspension parts that have been analyzed many times before with easy to find information about the stuff. Sorry about that.

Cheers!

Hi SGDave,

So are the A47 SLA kits readily available? They are so reasonably priced that I cannot believe they include a pair of Penske dampers! Yeah I read about that but I figured it was the fresh motor and hair dryer. But what that tells me is that the A47 SLA is at least capable of comparable performance as the Griggs SLA. As I posted previously for that kind of money the A47 SLA is really dirt cheap.

Cheers!

It's on my car. One of these days we need to get together.

Yes, it's awesome folks. I shaved an honest 2.2-3.5 seconds off my times, depending on the track. The biggest advantage is not having to reset camber and toe when you get to the track like you do with struts, since you don't need nearly as much. Less camber means better braking and better tire wear. I'm at work, but have some pics on my computer at home. I'll post them for you guys tonite.

Eat Shit Dusty! :stooges:

Om nom nom nom...

Here you go.

Seriously...WTF is this low-res bullshit? :)

Looks nice..but it's time for 20 Questions! What material is the UCA made out of? Are the bushings Delrin? And the LCA is an OEM piece with a perch for the coilover and sway bar link right? Is the LBJ different/upgraded? Figure there's much weight savings?

Sorry - cell phone pics. I'll have to let PonyDNA take some pics, since he does it for a living.

No rods ends guys. Another selling point for the Agent 47 kit.

It's a modified GT500 lower, custom upper, modified factory spindle, modified factory swaybar.

Notice my bumpsteer stack is well - nonexistent?

Believe it or not, the Penske shocks aren't THAT much.

Very nice. I'm really, really liking where this is going. Factory spindle means I wouldn't be re-spending money on brake kits and cooling, and can fall back on inexpensive OEM parts in a pinch.

Believe it or not, the Penske shocks aren't THAT much.

I'll admit my only knowledge of Penske products goes back to my old highly dysfunctional FSAE team that had a motorcycle shock donated from them; I forget the retail price on it but I about fell over when I heard how much it would have cost. I bet it's still collecting dust on the workbench though..uhhgh.

Well, that and I rented a Penske moving truck once..

Hi R.F.,

Oh man. you're killing me! So what is different about the way the front-end feels and works when loaded up? One of the things I liked about the A47 SLA was the very smart design they came up with which saved them money and allowed them to undercut the price of Griggs' SLA which is totally hardcore fabricated. Are the front dampers adjustable? If you want me to I'll come and shoot some well lighted high-res images for you.

Cheers!

Question...

so if youre running a A47 SLA front, what do you do with the rear?

Practically nothing, as I got fed up with all the NVH from the rod ends. I have a real race car for that shit.

Stock control arms
Maximum Motorsports panhard bar
LCA relocation brackets
coilover springs in factory location
KW double adjustable shocks - i'll be switching the rears to Penske true coilovers over the winter

Griggs uses a torque arm and watts link. Probably pretty cheap compared to the SLA. Could use the A47 front with a Griggs rear. sounds like the makings of the ultimate s197 doom machine..

Pulled the BMR LCAs and the CHE relocation brackets and put in Steeda Race adjustable LCAs adjusted to OEM length.

Did not change a damn thing... so i was sitting there thinking, i figured i would try messing with the pinion angle some more.

Yup, it was the pinion angle, it was incredibly far off that i was under there turning that thing for like 5 minutes straight O_O lol

Got everything in spec with the UCA / LCAs and everything looks superb now!

:D
