Firstly, thank you Brian and Tim and others who wished me well for my surgery, it was very much appreciated!
Well I got home from the hospital Friday at noon. I can’t believe I waited so long to have the surgery done. Four days after surgery January 21st, my hip is not only pain free but I already have more flexible body motion than I have had for almost two years. I have my regiment of exercises assigned by my Physiotherapist to keep my busy and build up my muscles to work with the new joint. The 2 hours and 20 minutes of surgery was pretty interesting to say the least as I opted for “Spinal Anesthesia” rather than ‘General Anesthesia” with the Spinal I was awake and could hear all the aspects of the operation and could easily recognize the sound of saws, drills and hammering all along with the surgeon calling out #53, #56 etc., obviously different sized tools of the trade.
Enough about me, while in hospital one very pleasant and one very not so pleasant event took place. On the 22nd, my oldest daughter Janna living in Vancouver had her first baby. Hudson Scott McKenzie was welcomed into the world at a weight of 9 lbs, 3 oz, mother and son are doing fine! Also on the 22nd, my son-in-law Ryan, to my middle daughter, lost his mother Kathleen at age 59 after a long stay in palliative care. Ryan and Leslie my thoughts are with you.
Hopefully I will be able to start with a little tinkering on the car in a month or two, but I realize it could be six months before I am able to safely get up and down off the garage floor and tackle the “heavy mods” to the car on my wish list.
