Does anyone have experience with these? Looking at 275/40/18's size wise. I've got the v12's up front and was pretty happy with those. But also have conti DW's out back in a 45 profile and absolutely loved those. I'm Leary of the v12's because I'm afraid they won't fill the gap in the back like the conti's do. I had them back there once and the gap was a bit much for me.

The car sits stanced perfect to me right now at the v12's on 275/40/18's front and 275/45/18 DW's out back Frpp K springs in all 4 corners.

Now the DW's are out of my price range at the moment. I have been considering the following all in 275/40/18
Bridgestone re11
Bs tone re790
Kook v12's which are on sale at 109 right now on tire rack
Nitto nt05's
Also has anyone had any experience with the Dunlop dz102's?

The car makes 331 daily driven down in here in FL. Is the performance of the re11's worth the coin over the re790's? I really loved my nt05's that I ran for a while, even though they were only a 245 at the time. The hankooks have been in the back of my mind for price reasons though. Because that would allow me to get the koni yellows sooner.

Experience and thoughts appreciated. Thanks

The RE11 is a great tire!!! Good in weather, great grip, decent life for a 200TW tire. I ran a set for a year after I wore out the stock P Zeroes. They handled the 3:00PM Gulf Coast summer storms great (wrong side of the state but I bet you know what I mean).

Is it worth it? If you're doing autocross or track events, absolutely. If not, I'd go for something with better life for less money. You won't appreciate the difference in grip on the street between an RE11 and say...the NT05 or the V12's.

I don't have any experience with that particular tire but I'm currently running the Bridgestone Potenza RE-760s for the second time and I love them. Best tire Ive ever used for daily driving and ive been through quite a few...

Stock Pirelli P-zeros
Nitto NT-555s
Goodyear supercars
Nitto Neogen
Sumitomo HTRZ-II

Out of all of them, the only ones I really disliked were the goodyears. The traction was OK but they were noisy and wore out quickly. They also had this tendency to pick up little pebbles on the road and fling them into the wheel wells until they wore up so that was aggravating. Definitely not worth the price either. The NT-555s are a Good choice, and the price is definitely attractive. I'd call these my second choice. The 760s though... They're the shit. Best wet and dry traction and they're also the quietest and retain the most ride comfort. Not too bad on the price either.

I'm running the RE-11 and find them to be excellent. They hookup beautifully off the line and behave predictably near the limits of adhesion.

They work very well in the rain. Haven't experienced any hydroplaning in deeper standing water on the freeway at aggressive speeds either.

So far, tramlining is very minimal for a 275 width tire on the front which is a big plus. I only have about 5K miles on mine so far and have cross rotated them once so far.

Tire wear seems good so far also and I plan on getting another set once these wear out. Its nice having a 40 profile sidewall on the shitty roads I drive on everyday as well.

My friend runs RE-11s on the rear and Supercar's on the front of his track wheel set. He said they (RE-11s) hook really well when putting the power down. Before that he had a set of Hankook Ventus that, to him, were terrible for the grip.

I have the Hankook Noble's right now, and while good on the street, they are terrible for the track. You can "get by" with them on the track, but it is just too hard of a compound for these cars (no grip when you need it). Before that I had the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position's (RE970as), and I LOVED those tires. We had an earlier variant of them on my dad's IROC-Z, and it is probably to only tire that did not hydroplane in the wet weather.

Almost every higher end Bridgestone I have tried, I have been pleased with. The most common tires you will see on the road track around here is RE-11's, R888's, or the Hoosier A/R6's (probably in that order in terms of grip as well).

Bringing this thread back from the dead here, don't want to waste a new thread.

I got to looking at the tire wear, the 275/45/18 dw's look like they were too wide for the 9" AMR's I have on the car due to wearing in the center only. The outer walls still have 6/32 at least. Tires were never inflated higher than 34psi and were run from 28-32 psi in the 30k I got out of them.

Now my question is do I back it down to a 265/40 with the dw's or say fugg it and go for a 285/35 in all 4 corners? Or even stay at 275 but drop to a 35 profile in the dw's.

Or just pick up the 275/40/18 re760's. As many of you on here have raved, as well as my buddy it seems like a great choice.

According to tire rack the tread width are as follows

Re760 275/40/18 9.5" at a 26.7 overall diameter.

Dw's in a 265/40/18 10.6" at 26.3 ova diameter.

Dw tire 285/35 10.5" at 25.9 ova

Dw's in 275/35 10.1 at 25.6 ova

A side note the potenzas weigh 2lbs more than the dw's in the 275/35

I'm not able to find any specs on the 275/45 dw since it was a size that was discontinued.

Kind of torn on what to do here guys. Don't want to leave too much gap in the rear either.

---- Edit. I got a killer deal on the tires and shipping through work so I ordered the re760's

RIP - You will be missed
I've also found the upper-level B'stones to be among the more responsive tires, and two of my cars wear some model or other from them.

FWIW, Michelin's PSS comes in 265/40-18 . . . and claims 10.2" tread width.

They're on my short list for replacing the tires on the 18 x 9.5 wheels.
