I can sell my car and get an 03 mach 1 and have about 3000 left to myself. What would be the upsides and downsides to doing this? All my car has is full exhaust, a cold air intake, some nice rims and a tune. the mach 1 is stock and both cars have about the same number of miles.

Eh, you have enough mods in your car, as well as the value being higher that the cash would be offset more or less. That car has a higher ceiling, and it's one of the only new edge styles that I like, but if it's your dd, the s197 is a much better car to hold onto.

If it's an auto/manual issue or something like that, then it's up to you.

the s197 is a nicer car for sure and yea the mach's look sexy as hell. the mach 1 will weigh less and make more power with full bolt ons. i guess you have to ask yourself if you want out of your car. if you want a car thats nicer, keep yours but if you maybe wanna go a little faster/different look, get the mach.

I raced my friends 03 Mach the other day, my 05gt 5sp tore him a new ass out the hole, he didn't start closing the gap till the top of third gear, we finished almost dead even no clear winner really. I was actually very impressed with my 3v. I thought I would loss since the 05 gt makes slightly less power and weigh more. But my 05 has a better tq/hp range than the Mach. The 3v motor seems to have the power low and mod rpm. The Mach since it's a 4v he really had to push it up in the rpm range to tap into his hp. Both cars are stock 5sp. IMO my stock 05 is faster stock than my 96 cobra was when it was stock but that's my opinion. Man it's up to you. The Mach is sexy, but the s197 has much better ride quality and higher resale value. I'd rather drive my 05 than my friends Mach.

Keep the s197! Mach 1's are much more expensive to get the same power out of once you finish with the exhaust and intake and start digging into the engine. Good luck putting long tubes or cams on a 4v!

They are both nice cars. Yesterday was the first time I ever sat in 03 SVT cobra let alone drive one. Everyone says it's not comfortable and the ride is bad compared to the S197, but I thought it was very comfortable and no complaints about the ride. I read the MACH is a little more comfortable than the SVT cobra.

I love both cars but I bought my s197 over the mach. The ride is so much better as well as the interior and the power is pretty much the same. The 3v is also much more comfortable to work on.

Screw the 3grand and Mach if your gonna trade just find someone to trade you straight up for a nice cobra (=
you'll thank yourself later for going with a cobra over a Mach.

Keep your car. Mach 1's are nice but its looking more dated every year IMO.

I had an 04 mach 1.Mine was a automatic.I traded it on the manual that i have now.The automatics in the new edge suck but i love the automatics in the 05 up.If the mach is manual go for it.These cars really don't come into power till after 5k rpm.So plan to put 410 or even 430 gears in as your first mod.

If I had the chance to get back in to a Mach 1 I would do it. I traded my Mach 1 and my dd for my 05 and miss the Mach 1. My 05 is my dd and it is much more comfortable for a dd then the Mach 1. The Mach 1 for me was a drive on nice day car. I would not want to drive it as a dd.

I love the Mach 1's from 2003. I detest the Azure Blue though. I wouldn't give up my 2011 GT for one, but I would probably give up an '05-'07 for one. I would try to get a little more cash out of the deal though.

I would only do it if I had the $$$ to really take that engine to town with a built lower end and F/I up top. Of course, I would then be building the rest of the drive train and the suspension up as well.

I just love the 2003 Mach 1's. So in my position, I would do it. What year is your current Mustang?

There are NO "pros" to this unless you just HAVE to have an R Code VIN. Otherwise, fuck it. I NEVER get why ANY S197 owner has to have some moment of hesitation when faced with a chance to get a shit ass, fossilized 1979 chassied Mustang.
