After seeing some of the threads on here about engines going up in smoke, I want to get a feel for a safe range of power for my build. I'm just about complete with the installation of a Whipple HO kit on my 2008 GT. I've got 28K on the engine and currently have/ added FRPP hot rod cams, ford racing throttle body, open box CAI, 3.375 pully, along with ORH pipes and cat back exhaust. Some folks on this board have suggested that I might be able to get 480HP out of this set up. But after seeing similar numbers that have reached catastrophic failure, I'm thinking that it might be best to install a safe tune and stay around 450hp. I haven't done much racing, maybe only 6 passes, and only figure to do maybe that same amount every year. I don't drive like a fool, but I do like to drop the hammer on occasion. What is a safe range of HP for the bottom ends of these engines? I would like to keep my engine for a long time. For those of you that can't help yourselves I understand that if I kept it stock I would have nothing to worry about. Thanks
