If it's an XCAL3, then you HAVE to get SCT's LiveLoad on your computer on way or another. When you got your XCAL3 come with a CD?

Is normal they are afraid about the recent "issue" but there is no other way if you do not have access to an older version of it, there have been changes to the software and firmware since.

The SCT Liveload software can be downloaded to your computer via the internet at the SCT web site...

Once you get it downloaded, run it and it will set up a desktop icon for you...

Then click on your icon on your desktop and plug in the SCT into any computer port. (you will need to buy a special cable that has the SCT plug on one end and a USB port)...

You can then download any Brenspeed tune that they send you because this program will read it and identify your SCT as well...

The special cable can also be the same USB cable used for most computer printers and can be found at Target, Best Buy, etc.

I've been worried about doing this.....since i'm an old fart and somewhat dangerous with computers...lol. I ship my SCT to them whenever it needs a change. Wish i knew exactly how to load email tunes...would be ALOT simpler/easier!

I promise it's MUCH easier than it's made out to be. Just make sure you download and install all software/drivers BEFORE plugging in your XCAL.

It's not called LiveLoad anymore - that was used for X2's it's called SCT X3 Powerflash Updater and it's here: http://www.sctflash.com/software/SCTDeviceUpdater.exe

Hopefully they included the serial number of your device in the .cef file (you won't be able to see it or tell until you try to load it) or it ain't loading.

You're right about it not being LiveLoad, I used to have an XCAL2 before I got my 3. But DL is right about the serial number. If the tune's serial number and your XCAL3's serial number don't match, then you will not be able to load the tune.

QuickStang, did Brenspeed send you a new tune and that's what you want to load? If you plugged in your XCAL BEFORE installing the software and drivers, then that could be causing your problems.

Yah, except the software only works on PC's.

Can't even open the program in Wine.

What a headache. Who uses a PC anymore? Hasn't Mac taken over the world yet?

Given I use Linux but close enough... We're both SOL

I agree that being a company who relies so heavily on technology and finding new ways to exploit it (like wireless tuning capabilities), SCT reaaaally needs to work on their support.

it keeps saying device communication failed.

This happens because you plugged in your programmer before having everything downloaded and installed. The first and easiest thing to try is uninstalling LiveUpdate and removing the XCAL drivers from your computer. Restart your computer, and then download & install before plugging in your device. If that doesn't work, let me know.

LiveLoad nor LiveLink are working on my 64bit Win 7 system. Loaded fine on my wife's 32bit Win 7 system. Thought SCT had fixed this. Sent them an email and they said they can remote into my system and help me work it out. Called them yesterday and they were closed for Easter.
