Yeah its all my fault for selling him the exhaust and shipping it to him the very next day. I guess everytime someone pms you about buying a part you look at there feedback. He asked me what paypal addy to send the money to I told him. I didnt look at any of his stuff figured it was a done deal. After he files a dispute I come back here to see if he had any other dealings and see he is brand new and has 1 post.

I could understand checking feedback before paying someone but if someone is buying something and they send the money thats different. They did there part by sending the cash

sucks this happened to you and hope your situation gets resolved.
Sounds like I'm gonna have to get my post count up if I ever want to buy anything from the classifieds:cool:

I agree with you here 100% But I'd be weary of someone with a very low post count. That being said, I agree with everyone else, contact paypal by phone if you have to. send them the pics and messages from him. The item has been modified. It's no longer returnable imo. I think paypal will side with you.

As far as the buyer. He's an assbag.. At least make it known in the bad sellers thread so no one else will sell to him or buy from him.

sorry man but im with you that there is no way in hell i would take them back after he modified them. if a tip was damaged he should have contacted you right away and had you file an insurance claim on it, that is if you had them insured.

People have tried to do this to me on more than one occasion. Call PayPal up on the phone and talk to a representative. I'm not sure how much business you have done through PayPal, but I learned that when you do a lot of business through them they will be much more willing to help you out, especially if you point it out to them.

GL OP with this situation, it sounds like a pain in the ass, but just make sure you keep your anger invisible. Hostility always backfires when trying to settle a money dispute.

Not yet, but I think people shouldn't be able to see the classifieds at all at first.

Just a note of caution on low post count... I have a low post count but just completed a 4000 dollar transaction through these classifieds . I realize low post count can indicate new but it doesn't indicate a persons integrity either.

I agree. I've had several snafu's but paypal has always been good to me.

Make it like the place that was unspoken until the rights are accrued. I do admit though, the classifieds are what brought me here.

Where I agree with you that it doesn't indicate a persons integrity, but with more post people are used to seeing you and get to know you. More trustworthy I suppose. Also, alot of the scammers come in get enough post to sell , run scam, hit the road. It's the internet, nothing is 100% there is always a risk.

I have had all good experiences on here as well except that one. Yes they were shipped with insurance. I believe when he or someone else was installing them they dropped or somehow damaged them I really dunno. Also after thinking about what the other guy said about me really wanting to get rid of them. I thought the only reason people listed there stuff on the classifieds was to get rid of it. If I wanted to keep them I would have never put them up for sale to begin with. I have sold 2 other axel back exhausts that were used on my car and perfect feedback from both of those.

I feel bad for you, but you didn't take any precautions to protect yourself.

You didn't check his feedback because you were selling an item? So tell me again how you can't be screwed as a seller....oh wait.

Like I said...just wanted to get rid of it. Priced it incredibly low, and as soon as anyone asked for your paypal, you gave it out and shipped it without looking further into it.

You can act sarcastic all you want about my response, but I guarantee you'll follow my advice next time around.

You have to understand, that it gets pretty old seeing people get screwed over on here, when they could have taken action to prevent it. Every damn time, a thread is started and it quickly becomes a suggestion thread on what we as the staff need to do to keep this from happening.

It's been requested that we maintain a database of everyone's driver's license, we've been requested to monitor and approve of ads, etc....

We put rules forward, people don't follow them, step on them, or ask that they be ignored...

Always more work for us, but you guys don't want to take the effort to protect yourselves up front.

Post count does matter. A guy with no posts with a Feb or March join date has nothing vested in this forum...If I have to explain to you why you should take precaution or how to, then you shouldn't use the classifieds....anywhere.

Just keepin' it real man. It sucks for you.

First it really is bs what this guy is doing. But you have to protect yourself also. I had a low post count and tried to buy an item off the board here. The seller told me since my I had a low post count and 0 I-trader he did not feell comfortable selling to me. I am new here but I used to own a Jeep and bought and sold alot of parts on that site. I gave him some references and we made a deal.
This is like the other thread about the guys boxes being taken ,again fing scum bags, but if he would have taken 3 min to toss the boxes in the garage he wouldnt have been ripped off.
In both cases a little work on the " victims " part might have prevented both incidents. Most people think theifs are lazy but some of these guys put alot work into ripping you off .
Bottom line we all have to put extra effort into not being ripped off . whether it be locking your doors, keeping the garage door closed at all times as not to advertise or making a new guy jump a couple hoops to buy your item.
But let me be clear. It makes me sick that you think you are giving a guy a break on the price , ship the mufflers asap and the little prick tries to screw you.

Just give all the details to the Paypal people. Make sure you include the pictures showing he painted them. Paypal DOES tend to decide in favor of the buyer but in his case, it was an idiot thing to do to paint them.

IMO, this would be an easy win through Paypal for you. Pics of the before and after should be enough. I'd tell that buyer he owns them now. I'd be willing to work with an unsatisfied customer and absorb some cost to make things fair, but if I detect I'm getting screwed I take it to the top.

I take pics of the item before shipping, the item wrapped for shipping, boxed secured FOR shipping..........all of this BEFORE I even ship just in case.

Goodluck but I think you'll win this easily.

Well, one thing about some of the offroad sites is that you DONT screw members over. On sites like Pirate 4x4 and Toyota Territory Offroad Association you take your safety and well being into your hands if you do. There are people that will find out everything about you and make it public. They will post your phone numbers so that people can call you all day and night. And, often times one or more local members will show up at your door. I think we should start an S197 mob as well :sly:

LOL , yeah they will hunt you down like a dog. I see a few guys on here are pretty good at tracking people down. But they do have their share of issues on all sites.. The mods here can only do so much. I feel that your I-trader says alot about you and I take it very seriously. I think most guys feel the same but there are always the few that have no morals. Hell it bothers me reading about someone getting screwed here and it has nothing to do with me.
I would never rip anyone off and I just cant see how you could take someones parts or cash and not live up to your end of the deal. I just cant see how these dirt bags sleep at night.
