I would see why not. Especially if you have all the components. Might need to upgrade a fuse, I don't think you need to upgrade the wires. Im pretty sure they are interchangeable

The swap for the shaker 500 and the 1000 require a new harness. I was told this by ford and a local car stereo install shop, when I wanted to sell my shaker 1000 to a guy with a shaker 500. Also there's an issue with the car's pcu recognizing the two different systems.

Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to wonder if I would be better off going aftermarket if I change it at all...

Why replace an inferior sound system with another inferior sound system? There are many options available aftermarket, that will provide superior results without a ton of money.

I'm with AET. If you're going to go through the effort of ditching the Shaker 500, go full aftermarket.

Then again, I'm content with the Shaker 500. I'm getting old.

I'm pretty damn happy with my shaker 1000. I don't have to worry about fuses, or wires all over the car, or any of the other common problems with aftermarket systems.

I do understand the aftermarket systems can sound much better, but the Ford stuff is pretty good.

Maybe I'm getting old too. lol.

Ignorance is bliss. :D

I haven't bothered upgrading from my 500 either. I can't see bothering as I can't hear it over my exhaust anyways, lol.

Based on what exactly? I conceded that aftermarket systems can sound better. However, having a plethera of wires running under my carpet, combined with some fancy already outdated amp mounted somewhere that ties into a giant sub box that takes up half my trunk...No thanks. Been there.

+1. the only extra box in my trunk is going to be the aluminum box holding my battery when i do the relo mod...the Shaker 500 is way more than enough...anything that makes the trim inside the car start to vibrate is more than enough!

I was just razzing you but OK. Why would you need any more wires with an aftermarket sub than a factory one? They both require power, ground, and signal.

Who said anything about a fancy amp. FYI, amps don't exactly become outdated. Amplifier technology has been the same, more or less, for years. Now HU's on the other hand are another story.

Why would you require a giant sub box? There are plenty of high quality subs that operate very well with great FR's, that are designed to excel in .5 cf enclosures.

You are obviously content with your Shaker 500. Great. The OP was inquiring concerning an upgrade to a 1000. I'm merely stating that there are much better options out there for the money than the 1000.

And yes, I am very familiar with top quality sound systems. :)

I have the Shaker 1000 already. That is what I'm content with. What I like about it, is that it was designed for, and integrated into, the car. The amps and sub box are nicely tucked into the side of the trunk area using mounting points that were put there by Ford. No drilling holes, or building brackets, or figuring out how to mount an amp that won't be in the way. The wiring is just part of the body harness. No big fuses, nothing to fail.

The average guy is going to try and put together an aftermarket system on the cheap, which will still be reasonably expensive, and potentially have some of the problems above. A "quality" 1000 watt (or more) system will sound better yes. But it will also cost a lot more than simply converting to the Shaker 1000. And the 1000 for most people is more than enough. That's my point. For the guy on a budget (which is most of us), converting to a shaker 1000 is a very good option that will sound great, install like factory, and be inexpensive.

You're obviously the exception as it looks like you're really into the nice stuff. That's great, and you could probably build you a real nice reliable system (still expensive) that would sound worlds above any factory stuff. That's a super nice speaker btw (my buddy had a couple in his 03).

I can't argue with your logic. Maybe I should rephrase my statement. Those willing to invest a little time and research can build a very nice system for minimal investment, that will far exceed the quality of the 1000.

A little fiberglass skills and some sweat, will reward you with a great sounding system that will integrate the same or better than factory.

If your buddy has those same speakers, he'd be one of a handful in the U.S. According to Audison, there have been less than 5 imported in at this time. Amazing speaker. I'm a huge SQ guy and have yet to hear anything that rivals them at this point. :)

They maybe weren't those exact ones, but they were Audison Thesis's. Not sure on any other details, but they looked just like your pic, and he had them last year.
