So got my e85 startup tune from Mike at MAP today. Drove on E to the station and filled it up while I loaded the tune. Car started right up! Mike Rousch is the man! Car feels really responsive and is begging to get into boost, but I had to play it safe till she gets tune friday. lol

Also I tested the fuel, so would you call this around e90? The pump said minimum e70. Also there are fine black particles in the fuel, is this normal for corn?

Drove the twin kit around for a good 30mins today in the rain on the startup tune as well, no issues with water.

Anyhow it was $3.13 a gallon, 93 octane right now is around $3.90. Not bad.

Gotcha never used the tester before, so maybe I didn't fill the e85 high enough. Should be god then! Any info on the black silt looking stuff when I shake it its noticeable and then it gathers. Looks small enough to make it through the filters.

Yeah the Nex is the only spot around down here in Hampton roads with it.

Looks like 87-88% to me. The percentage will be lower in fall and winter, more like 70-75%. Also, how long was that sitting, doesn't look fully separated out yet.


Never noticed any black particles when I've gotten corn.

I've never seen black particles in it. You might want to try a different source. Is it possible that the station tank is a converted diesel tank?

Was only sitting a few minutes. Maybe the black stuff was from the silicone hose I used to siphon out into the tester. Its a separate station and pump by itself away from the regular gas station. Its technically a military only pump and the only one in the area for a couple hundred miles.

Wasn't there a thread a long time ago about how the black particles burned up fuel pumps???? I'm not kidding about the threads. I even thought you(Jeremy) were in on the conversation because I "thought" it was pumps you were involved in(not in a bad way)?????

I could be wrong but I do remember the e85 silt convo here awhile back.

if you let it sit some more, I think it would have separated out a bit more and give you a truer reading, also don't forget to measure at the bottom of the meniscus.

you have to be eye level with the separation line in order to get an accurate reading.

There is the e85 black goo plague but I haven't seen anymore cases of it.
