It would be awesome if you could post up the exact weight difference between both fans. My car is on the diet stage still :naughty1:

I will have to look at the pics of the install again to see where the fan mounts...my radiator is bent at the top so if the fan can be mounted in the middle of the fan it might work.

Dont know really, doesnt seem to do anything now that its off and i look at. It did hold the coolant and ps tanks but i moved those. The hole back of the shroud is open and allows the fan to blow the air towards the engine.
It also held the the temp fan controller which i removed to use with the new fan.

What did you have to do electrically to get the fan running? Just wires?

Yeap the slim fan has 2 wires red/blue. I used the stock fan connector which connected to the fan shroud to a temp fan controller and then a conector to the stock fan. Theres just two wires running from the temp controller to the fan motor they are red/black. The slim fan has spade connectors on the end and i slipped them into the connector red to red and blue to black and the fan spins cw.

Btw, if u guys are gonna to this to drop weight or make room you have to relocate the coolant res/power steering res tanks first.

FYI: Air flow should go from the front of the car to the rear. Unless you plan on backing up everywhere you go.

FYI: You just lost a LOT of cooling capacity at low speed. Even if that fan moves as much air as the stock fan, it is only cooling a small part of the radiator. There is a reason that the factories spend the size/weight/cost and put a shroud on the cooling fan.

Yup got it air blows/flows towards the rear, makes sense.

It covers almost the exact same area as the stock fan, the stockers blade diameter is just under 17", so i lost a little over a inch in fan diameter with the 16'' slim fan. And this fan flows 200 scfm more than the stocker. Granted i dont have a huge shroud that covers most of the rad area anymore which i can def live without. I also have a twincore 52mm aluminum radiator, so i def didnt loose any cooling.

Btw this fan moves noticeable more air than the stocker even at low speed. Just putting your hand behind it you can feel how much air this thing is moving, def more than i expected.

I was considering wiring the fan so its on high all the time as alot of drag guys do with the slim fans. But im glad i didnt because my car takes for ever to warmup as it is with just the alum rad and if i had the fan on high all the time it would take even longer for my car to warm up in the morning.

Lost cooling

+1 on decreased cooling due to the lost effects of ducting of the OE shrowd. It may not matter because the main core area is still being cooled with your new fan, but only time will tell. Let use know how you do in slow traffic in the summer in NC. I hope you see no difference, but think you might?? Thanks for the pics!

i had 2 run 2 of those fans with that radiator to run cool,i would look at the fliudyne dynamics fans they blow over 3600 cfm of air and is a true reading,i run only one of those

Glad I'm not crazy in my thinking, I know a lot of muscle car guys make sheetmetal shrowds so that might be something to look into.

JPC had a badass shroud/fan setup on that 8 second build they posted on here, that's what I plan on upgrading to when the time comes. I am thinking the cfm was almost double the stock fan.

As far as the shrouds concerned, I'm assuming the stock and aftermarket pieces have the same mounting points?
