Sadly you would be surprised how many people fight that. We have customers that my co-workers come to me to see if we can help with good will monies. That is up to Ford. Not the store level.

I had a customer buy a truck at Auction with a Blown Motor expecting it to be replaced under warranty. In an auction situation, the only thing the manufacturer can go by is the Car Fax. This vehicle had 33000 miles on it and absolutely no documentation in Carfax other than the annual registration. According to the manufacturer, he has done no maintenance on it. Now we all know a lot of people do there own. The manufacturer does not recognize that if they choose not to for a warranty concern.

That I understand; blown engine vs getting a TSB done is apples and oranges, at least to me.

Well, at 33k, there wasnt much maintenance to be done but oil changes. All that needs to be done is drop the pan and see whats inside.
Sludge = no maintenance.
No sludge = oil was changed.
Dodge used to have "factory installed" stamped on the oil filter. Just another possible indicator.
The real question I have is why would a truck under warranty end up at auction if the original owner had an engine failure and had a warranty?

Correct. There was sludge for sure. He was a used car dealer that bought a truck cheap and tried to bully us to replace the engine. Granted, we get paid by the manufacturer nicely to do an engine replacement. Sad we had to turn it away.

Sad to turn it away? Thats not a warranty related failure.

I put a new engine in Wil Smith's old truck. From before he made it big. My buddy bought it and found out it was his old truck.
My buddy calls me up, truck blew up and a pushrod fell out through the oil pan! Yes, a pushrod. We got the pan off and there were perfect imprints of the crank counter weights in the sludge. How that thing didnt blow much sooner, I will never know. lmao Agent J put a killer sound system in, but couldnt bother to change the oil. (and he pulled the system out before selling it)

Correct. The Used car dealer looking to make extra profit on the sale did though. Funny thing, I have been watching the Oasis to see if he took it to another dealer and he has not.

Because original owner took it to the dealership and was denied coverage because of oblivious neglect or abuse.

May make you laugh but I was not aware that a TSB is only good for the the 3/36 warranty, I was under the assumption that a TSB is good until it is made right; does this vary from manufacturer?

Nope Greg TSB = Technical Service Bulletins they are meant to let the technician known of issue that need to be fixed that are annoyances. They are NOT safety issues thus they DO NOT fall into the recall category. Recalls are issued by either the manufactures or by the Transportation Safety Board. Recalls must be fixed no matter how old the car is if its still registered and on the road.
