Several times now my car has done the following: When starting for the first time after it has sat for awhile...

1st crank - it cranks, stumbles a little bit, then stalls

2nd crank - it cranks stumbles at first then idles up and runs. BUT if I press the gas pedal it stumbles and stalls again.

3rd or 4th crank - It starts right up and runs rough for a couple seconds, but then smooths out and runs great with no hesitation.

The second time that it did it it took 4 times to get it started. Once it was running I pulled out of the garage, shut it off and read the codes....no codes were found. It started right up after that.

So, with no codes I'm thinking maybe bad gas or the TPS/Throttle is getting ready to go....but I'd like to figure it out before I get stranded several hours away out of town.

I had an evap solenoid stick open on me and it kind of did what you are describing. Fuel vapors from the gas tank would vent/backflow into the intake manifold while the car was sitting/not running. When I would start the engine, it would run like it was flooded for 5-10 seconds, until it cleared out and ran normal. This issue would occur after a fill up at the gas station, but it also happened to a lesser degree if there were days of wide temperature variation.

Funny you should mention that...one thing that I forgot to put in my original post was that after this happens, when it does start running, I get a strong smell of gas....or more specifically...sulpher smelling gas. Thats why I was thinking that I got some bad gas.

Where is this soleniod located?

The evap solenoid is attached to a bracket on the driver's side strut tower. When mine would stick open, I could hit the solenoid with the end of a screwdriver handle and you could hear the solenoid un-stick itself and click shut.

Last night my intake got a little loose and disconnected a bit from the TB. I have NO idea how. Either way, it caused my car to run rough and stall out on me.

Cool, thanks..I'll check that out in the morning.

Yeah, I've had my intake come loose before too. Thats one of the first things that I checked...thanks for the suggestion though.
