Stupid Shifting Question

For some reason car feels better shifting at 5500 rpm.

I usually get it up to 6000-6500 before shifting.

That's a pretty broad range...Sounds like you need to get it on the dyno or take it to the track so you can actually figure out what works best. As it is, you're just shooting in the dark.
