Yeah I was going to ask if the 12 month rule applies to Group 3 synthetics as well. I was under the impression it does not.

The most important factor in how often you should change your oil is USAGE of the car/truck. Short trips where the engine does not reach operating temp, racing, or towing, is "severe" duty and require more frequent oil changes.

If your commute is ~20 miles or more one way, you can push the interval longer. All my cars get oil changed once a year, except for the Coyote. One of those cars sees between 10-15K/yr. The others 3-5K/yr. Bikes also get changed once a year, but I don't ride more than the factory recommended oil change interval. (if I did, I would change oil more. Shit, I need to ride more!) I have not had an oil related issue/failure, ever.

When I check the oil level on the dipstick in this car it seems like one side reads differently than the other. Which side is the correct side? I can always spin the dipstick 180 degrees to get the "right" reading so which is correct? Hash side up or down?

I have always used...'hash side' up......and with car on a level surface. One thing I did notice was the little hole just above upper hash mark.... and lower hole...just below lower hash mark. Back several years ago, the oil was changed, and level was just a hair above lower hole. And I'm thinking it's down a qt. I added in small increments..and to get to just a hair below top hole required exactly 400 ml.

    1 US qt = 946.35 ml
    .43 us qt = 400 ml

So it's just under 1/2 qt to get from bottom hash mark to top hash mark. And here I was, ready to dump an entire qt in there!

Has anyone ever used this Havoline 6 quart boxed oil? I gave it a go tonight in my TJ because it was $15 for 6 quarts! I was impressed by the bag design. It flowed easily and the No-Glug claim is true. It was even easier to fill it with the old oil since the bag spreads quickly and distributes the liquid weight with ease. Damn good deal if you ask me.

The only real issue here is exactly what is the BLEND. It could be only 1%.

Yeah, I know, but it's a tractor engine so I don't care if it's synthetic or not. 6qts for $15 was a great deal and just enough for the old 4.0.

I don't know if i want 70% less plastic in my oil. Probably won't rev as high without enough plastic in it.

I noticed 3 yrs ago that Mobil 1 100% synthetic was available in 0W-20. Summer of 2019, I noticed it was also available in 0W-30, and also 0W-40. It's supposed to be the bomb. Has anybody used it ?? On paper, it should be a good year round engine oil...esp in low temps, and also well below freezing..as in toss the block heater.

That low plastic content did concern me initially, but I'm gonna take my chances and see what happens. It was too cheap to pass up.

I have been running 0-40 M1 from the day the coyote cranked over. Going on 4 years and many HPDE events and zero complaints or issues. And the 5 qt jugs make the perfect used oil return containers to Autozone.
I run M1 in all the cars now. The 'busa gets 10-40 M1 high milage.
I put that shit in everything lol
