Hey, so what happens if it turns out you burnt some exhaust valves and that's leading to the leak-down you're worried about? Did you plan for that possibility?

Would that mean needing to get new heads or could the valves be replaced?

Depending on the severity, it could just be a valve job or it could mean new valves + valve job. I guess they should have dumped some oil in the cylinder then performed the leak down again to isolate the problem.

Well Today I was called with some great news. A few valves on the heads look a little burnt, but they said that they think they can clean those up. Also they found some of my spark plug on a few of the cylinder walls and the walls are pretty thrashed. I was told that they think its bad enough that it would have to be shaved .030 which is too much for the HP I'm running... soooo.. It looks like I will need a new BLOCK!!!! Of course Ford wants 1300 but they are trying to find me a cheaper one. Something about a race version that might be cheaper. Anyway, They told me they have pics of everything and I can come by. 4k on a built motor and I need a new block.. this just keeps getting better.

+1 on Marks short block. Cheaper then what you'd pay now and it should give you enough power to get into the 12's!
