According to several sources the eagle crank is stronger than the Kellogg and they rate their rods at 1200. Even FRPP uses eagle in their short blocks now.

I got ya. I was just trying to decide between the twin kit and the single kit with the deciding factor being whether or not my Manley h beams could hold 1000. If you're going for 1000 on h beams then fuck it, me too. Guess I'm gonna need another solenoid for my boost controller or is there a way to do it with 1 solenoid?

When you see a manufacture (at least a reputable one) post numbers they are normally RPM dependent. Those tests are done at sustained RPM also which is not you unless you are RickyBobby.

IIRC, my Manley I-beams are only techincally rated to like 800 but that was at 8000 rpm under sustained conditions. Hell, I ran my manley H-beams higher than that and they are only rated to like 700 @7000 rpm but don't quote me on that.

RPM is a huge factor on the rods. The majority of the strenth/weakness is in the bolt

If no one has broken a stock 3v cast steel crank I would hope no one as broken a forged one. :beerdrink:

Well I plan to spin to7k but I have the arp2000 bolts.

Termi's run 1000rwhp+ on stock manley h beams with arp2000 bolts all day long. Granted they are usually a tad lower compression and don't rev as high always.

Kellog 3.8" crank..not worried about that.
More concerned about the rear end, as I feel that's a possible weak point now (gt500 8.8 take-off with stock axles).

the eagle is a 4340 steel, kelloggs is not so yes the eagle should be stronger but much heavier also. me personally, i had both and after mic'ing the crank and based on appearance straight from eagle, I decided against using it and went with the kellogg as I've not seen a breakage in either, only rod failures far and few between but i also run oliver bilet rods with wsb bolts. i did a thread with a side by side

All of this talk about cranks is irrelevant, as the Kellogg is no longer available. I ordered one from Lunati a couple of weeks ago only to have them call me back and cancel the order. Everyone I have spoken to is now using some version of the Chinese crank. MMR claims to have a couple.of standard stroke Kelloggs but at almost twice the normal price.
