i got the frpp stingers, i would love to get them louder, right now i am considering the muffler deletes axle back in place of the stingers.

i dont wanna fiddle with the cats as this is my daily and i wont be able to pass emmisions or inspections. i found the splice in x pipes made by frpp and pypes that you cut out the stock H and replace with ther X which keeps the stock cats. will that change sound at all?

I agree with the high flow cats. The stock cats reduce noise more than the mufflers do. If you want a deeper note go with another h-pipe.

an X will make your sound alot raspier, especially w/stingers. I think the high flow cats, as everyone suggested is your best bet for not just louder, but a better sound than adding an X.

I see you are in MD, where at? I'd "sell" you my high flow catted X, BUT I would need it back next year to pass inspection. I just had an O/R H installed with my stingers........all I can say is, AWESOME!

As stated above, stick with a high flow catted X.

I may be wrong but I think law just states you can't alter the existing cats but it doesn't mean you can't replace the existing catted pipe with another catted pipe, which is better than the splice in X anyway.. Am I correct ???

No a splice in x will not make the car louder. The fact that you are retaining the stock cats is what is keeping your volume down. As many have said, either get a high flow catted midpipe, or better yet go o/r (catless). I have a catless prochamber and passed just fine with it ON the car last November. This is how you do it...... I put my stock intake back on (took maybe 10 minutes with simple tools) and reloaded the stock tune. It takes ~ 75-100 miles for the CEL to come on. The "drive" cycle to reset you computer is ~25 miles. I swapped the stock intake on and stock tune, drove to the testing center (~30 miles away) and they plugged it in (no cel) and they gave me the paper saying I passed.....all while the car is idling in their enclosed garage, smelling of raw exhaust fumes. As long as there is no code being thrown while they scan it, you will pass. Now order an o/r H pipe, or better yet prochamber ;)

Either keep your stock cats and get a muffler delete or keep the stingers and put on a midpipe with hi-flow cats. Keep your stock catted H when emission times comes, but as mynameismike65 implied, you could pass with an midpipe with hi-flows.

i have frinds with mustang that have high flow cats and no cel but still do not pass readyness. i just didnt wanna deal with the hassel but it looks like a may have to if i want louder. i dont have time to install the stock stuf before emmisions, not to mention when you reset the ecu or go back to stock all the parmeters are reset so you cant pass readyness which is what they look for here in md.

i still have them for sale or trade as i am thinkin of doing muffler deltes instead but my only issue with that is they dont sound that great compared to the stingers

They check for rediness everywhere.....I passed with NO cats and the stock tune. I know first hand that it can be done and its easy as hell. Passing emissions with an o/r pipe is not a big hassle or mystery.
