I know that popular opinion states that the stock bottom end can (safely) handle around 500 RWHP with a good tune, but what is the accepted 'safe' limit for the stock auto tranny?

I ask because I am currently pushing 453 RWHP through mine at 8 psi, and am in the process of upping that to around 10 psi, which should bring me up to a conservative (estimate) 475 ish RWHP.

Is this too much for the stock tranny? I'd be grateful for opinions and or experiences...

I suppose a lot of people will tell you to swap in the 4R70W (think 03/04 Mach 1). However, IMO, our 5R55S should be fine with proper cooling and frequent fluid changes.

Who is tuning it? If they know how to tune a 5R55S properly, you are more than fine under 500 whp...imo
