That hood reminds me of my brother's 1973 Mach1. I could have bought it for $1500 in 1989 or 1990.
351C 4v (big valve heads) Sky Blue with black hood...
I'll always regret getting my new bride an 86 Escort instead!
I had to replace the original hood on my 05 because of pealing paint and corrosion on the front lip. It was much cheaper to go with a Cervinis fiberglass than a aluminum replacement, and no body shop would touch the original. I’m very happy with it and it’s still very straight after 3 years. Here’s another view.

I finally re-installed the T56R transmission into my car today [I will be out of action for 4 weeks]
The transmission was out to repair wear and to modify the shifter so it shifts faster and more precise [3 to 4] and be more reliable.

I've never had any luck in the past with the reliability of aftermarket T5 and T56 shifters [one broke after only one race meeting]

Nothing exciting. Just changed the manual transmission fluid (Mercon V) and the rear axle oil (75W-140 plus friction modifier). Had done 30k miles since those fluids were last changed. Now at 91k.

Changed out air filter & air filter dust sock due to squirrel getting under the hood 1 night & start chewing on it.

When did they change it to 75w-140? I just bought some 75W-90 to replace mine. Damn.

It has always been 75W-140, at least according to my owner's manual and my Haynes workshop manual. I ordered it from Germany 'cause my local Ford stealership only had 75W-90 and I wasn't sure it would be compatible. Same with the Mercon V for the tranny.

Finally got around to getting the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires installed yesterday. After test driving them, I could definitely tell how well they stick to the road like glue. They take corners really well, absorb uneven road surfaces and aren't very noisy at all. I'm also running them in 275/40/18" as a square setup and the front tires clear both the inner wheel well and front suspension without requiring wheel spacers. IMHO for $147.99 per tire, they seem like a good high quality made tire that performs very well and yet for half the price of their competitors. At any rate, I would definitely recommend the Firestone's to anyone looking for an ultra high-performance summer tire that is on a budget.

Sounds good Rocky.
Remember that new tires tend to give off "tread squirm" for the first 100-200 miles, as the factory oils/coatings wear off.
But definitely looking forward to your thoughts on these tires after you've put some miles on them.
And also looking forward to seeing the car with the new rubber on it :)

Soon as I put some tire dressing on them and get a decent shot, I'll definitely post some new pics of the car Gabe. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good picture taker lol. You're also absolutely spot on about the factory oils/coatings wearing off after putting a couple hundred miles or so. But I'm sure, I'll still consider the Firestone's a huge improvement over the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires

I bought a set of these on sale last year 275/35/20 and they are still in my garage, my Mickey Thompson's aren't worn out yet but now I'm tempted to swap em anyway. I've been really happy with the MT's as a cheaper tire as well but wanted to try something different and I got the Firestones for like $175 ea on sale for 20", couldn't turn em down.

You definitely won't be disappointed, that's for sure ;) In fact, one of my car buds thought they were drag radials lol.

I may have to get me some of these. What size wheels are you running. I currently have 18x10 GT4 with Nitto 275/40/18. I can’t believe I went back to Nittos, I hate them, especially in the rain. But 1st gear can be just about useless, and I’m n/a with 3.73 gears. I thought they would stick better dry...

I'm running "OEM" 2007-09 Shelby GT500 wheels in 18x9.5" with 45mm offset. I can also relate to the Nitto's, as they most definitely suck in the rain. They also don't stick very well when dry until they're really heated up. Needless to say, I had them on my car for less than a year and couldn't wait to take them off. Anyhow, my car is also supercharged with stock 3:55 gears. After taking off the 20x9.5" wheels which the Nittos were running on, I switched to the Shelby GT500 wheels with "OEM" Goodyear Eagle F1 tires in 255/45/18's up front and 285/40/18's rear for the past 2+ years until finally upgrading to the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires in 275/40/18 on all 4 corners. Prior to pulling the trigger on the Firestones, I was also considering Continental Extreme Contact Sport and Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but after reading all the positive reviews on this site and also from other Mustang forums and especially from TireRack, I decided to give the Firestones a try. Despite the fact it's been only 24 hours since the installation, I've been very pleased with how well they stick to the road in the dry and also take the corners extremely well. That being said, IMO, I really don't think you'll be disappointed at all with the Firestones, especially when considering they're more than half the price of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and nearly half the cost of Continental Extreme Contact Sports :waytogo:

Thanks, I had the Continental DW in 255/45/18 and they were a really good tire - unless it was around freezing. Then they were scary.
I’ll probably try the Firehawks just to get the Nittos off of it without breaking the bank.

Unfortunately my brother-in-law no longer works at Bridgestone (they made Tiger Woods’ golf balls) and he could get Bridgestone and Firestone tires nearly at cost...

I got them at my local Firestone complete auto care center for $147.99 ea. which IMO is still a bargain compared to Continental and Michelin, which are by no doubt, top of the line quality brand tires :waytogo:

Firestone is also great on their warranty coverage. They made a bad batch of tires back in the 90's and I had a set on my 1995 E150 Van. They had almost 70,000 miles on them and Firestone still gave me almost what I paid for them. I have them on my 2003 E250 now and have been very happy with them.

Firestone has certainly made quite a comeback since merging with Bridgestone back in 1988 following the Ford Explorer/Firestone tire disaster that was responsible for the deaths of 44 people and 250 injured due from tire separation. Anyhow, I also had a set of Firestone Firehawk tires on my previous "93" SVT Cobra back in "96" that I was very pleased with. I just can't remember from memory what the Firehawk series tires were called back then
