I could use opions on my curent build and will respect your forum. Here is what I am doing, I am in process of asembling a iron block 323 stroker 9:3:1 Livernoise stage 3 ported heads, comp stage 2 blower cams, have a FB 4stb with trans brakes ordered, running a D1sc procharger. I drive the car a little on street but also drag race alot

1 what should I run for torque converter stall speed? Converter will be a PI 9.5 single disc (not locking up down track) was thinking 3,500 but not sure.

2 planning on running shorty headers and no cat x pipe for this and changing to long tubes and 3" exhaust down the road, will this totaly kill power?

3 planning on running stock intake and throttle body for now, bad idea?

4 Debating on beefing up 8.8 or running a 9" thoughts?

Thanks

1) Shoot Chris06GT a PM, he's a good guy that works at PTC and can recommend a stall for you based on your application.

2) Why waste the money on the shorties? You won't see any gains from them, as far as power is concerned. What kind of power level are you shooting for? The factory 2.5" exhaust doesn't become a restriction until you really make some numbers. Go with some LT's and call it a day. Do it once and be done with it.

3) Nothing wrong with that. Like the exhaust, it all flows well enough that it doesn't hold you back until you make big power. Now, will you benefit from something like the FRPP intake? Sure. Is it necessary? No.

4) The factory 31 spline axles aren't a joke, but you'd definitely want to build it up if you hit the strip hard with a pair of slicks. Hooking up at the track with a lot of power is liable to break shit. Currie makes a bolt-in 9" rear you could look into.

As stated above I'd call whomever you are buying your TC from and ask them for a stall recomendation.

I have a 298 with livernois heads, stage II blower cams, and D1, Lentech 4R70 with brake. Was recomending to go with a 4000+ stall from Chris @ Circle D.

Agree as well to just go with the long tubes.

A consideration for the rearend is go with an upgraded axle and diff. I went with Strange pro race 33 spline axles with c clip eliminators and their upgraded diff.

Power wise I want to make what I can on pump gas, have little idea on numbers. What kind of power and ET do you have with that 298? Thinking maybe using MAC headers, or pypes (as they would work with my no cat x pipe I have). The car needs to live throught drag week. I would really like to run around 10:50's

Do you already have the D1SC? If not, with 323ci, I would step up to an F1A.

2 - go LTs

3- your fine with a centri

4- go Trutrac and stock axles should be fine

Hmm, based on what others told me in my recent thread about my converter issues, I'd think you'd want a triple disk converter that you can lock at WOT in each gear?

I agree that stock axles will hold up. However, If he runs quicker than a 10.99, the NHRA says you need aftermarket axles.
