Can someone tell me if I have this correct?

Load SCT 2 step file in the tune
Set neutral rev limit for launch RPM
Set drive rev limit for rev limiter
Set "rev limit speed to exit neutral rev limiter" to .5 mph
Tape or bypass top plunger switch on clutch pedal

Is that correct? I tried it before without the plunger taped down and it did not work. The neutral rev limit was limiting RPMs in neutral and with the clutch released.

"top plunger on clutch pedal"... Are you referring to the clutch safety switch?

Its the upper clutch pedal switch. From what I have been told it is not the safety switch itself, there are 2 different switches there. I have not been up under the dash to check it out personally yet though.

His post is where I got most of that information. Just wanted to make sure I had it all right since the posts tend to wander off topic around here sometimes :)

I have the xcal III and never used a xcal II for this so you will have to try.

You have everything right on your end. I never had to tap into anything for the xcal III. I don't know of any S197's using the xcal II like I am.

I have seen it done on many 2 valves.

I would say just try it on the street

So do you have an XCAL2 or an XCAL3? I have an XCAL2 I am going to try it with.

Yes I have the 3.

what I was saying is you just have to try it out on the xcal II because Im not sure if it will work on the S197's

I'll let you know when I try it. I see no reason why it should not work with the XCAL2

Subscribing...

I still use the X cal 2 as well and would love to get the 2 step to work. I have never tried but if you can get it to work please post your results.

Thanks!

I finally had time to try everything this morning and it works perfectly!! You will need to load the two step file under misc in the value files. I tried just setting them up without loading that file for the hell of it and it did not work.

So can you recap what exactly you did from start to finish? Taping switches and everything.

Thanks for the help...

x2 I was thinking of adding a MSD2 step but this would be cheaper!

Bill was the tune file adjusted by the tuner? or can you do it all in the handheld?

Thanks much

Well I just contacted Brenspeed to get my 2 step controls unlocked and they say it can't be done on the 05+. Hmmmm? O well.

The two step file will have to be added by your tuner, it is not availible on the XCAL itself. The 2009 Value Files have the 2 step under MISC. When you add that file to the tune it automatically changes the "rev limit to exit neutral rev limiter" to .5 mph. What that does it shut off the neutral rev limiter the moment the car moves. Then reflash the car and go into optional parameters

Set neutral rev limit for launch RPM (I set mine to 5500 rpms)
Set drive rev limit for rev limiter (this is your actual limiter. I set mine to 6700)

Tape or bypass top plunger switch on clutch pedal It is a red switch with a black plunger. It will NOT work without this step.

I set my neutral RPM to 3500 to test it and it held. I popped the clutch and the car revved right up to 6000 no problem. The car sounds absolutely wicked on the 5500 two step! Testing at the track tomorrow!!!!

So this basically will ALWAYS limit the revs while the clutch is pressed in?

I would think so. And removing the tape on the switch would put it back to normal maybe?

I'd love to get this working...

Just curious qwikhuh, are you using the pro racer software?
