Xcal 2 step procedure?

If you don't tape the plunger I would think the neutral rev limiter comes active when you push the clutch in to shift 1-2 & 2-3, etc. You shift at 6200 RPM or so the rev limiter will shut off fuel to bring it down to whatever the neutral rev limiter is set at - that's why it'll bog.

I tried this a couple years ago but didn't know (never even occurred to me) you had to tape the plunger. Car would die between shifts :) I'm going to put it in again and tape the clutch switch. I have the PRP.

FYI, on my '05 v6 that's tuned by BBR I was able to set the neutral rev limit with my xcal3 to 3200rpm to act like a 2step. I did not specify to BBR that I wanted the 2step feature either. I DID NOT tape the plunger down and I have NO problems shifting at 6000rpm, no bog or anything; acts just like normal(and I can rev past 3.2k rpm when the car is moving). From what I have read on the v6 its hard to hook up a regular 2step because you have to combat the waste spark...:thumb:

I'm sitting here thinking the tuned 2step rely's on car movement more then that plunger.. Like if speedo reads <5mph do not limit revs. That would be a test, push your clutch it while driving and coast a distance, while coasting rev the engine. (I'd test this but I'm 5000miles away from my car.)

I havent received my file yet so I can't test it out, but yes I believe it's speed based as well.

FYI ... I ordered a 2-step Race tune by mistake from AM ....

I called them because they turn off traction control in the tune and it causes the TCS lights to come on and a SERVICE ADVANCETRAC message on my info screen.

They explained that as long as the ECM reads 0 MPH the max RPM will be 3000 RPM (default in my tune ... I see you can change it through the tuner) ...

As soon as the ECM reads .5 MPH the REV LIMIT is removed.

Mine must be messed up because it limits the rpm while cruising too, and it doesn't work anything like a 2-step.. It bounces off it like crazy

Is this something that just comes with our tunes from AM. I just received my Tuner/Intake from them this month. What did you do once your tune was loaded to turn this option on and adjust the rpms?
It was a special request, after loading the tune I use the neutral rev limit to set the two step, and that's about it lol

but there is an issue where is cuts your power when you hit the clutch on upshifts, so I am not using it anymore maybe they will figure that part out, I didn't make any physical modifications maybe I had to do something on my end but they didn't say I had to.

Also the mph must be set wrong because I can use the two step if I put the clutch in at 60mph or so, they said it deactivated after .5 mph.

With all the complications of setting it up, and the RISK of running LEAN using the launch RPM control of the SCT, added to the lack of "no-lift" shifting - it just makes more sense to go with the WOTBOX... that's all we're saying!

Yes cutting fuel with FI is a no no so the wotbox would be the best choice for that SCT cuts fuel.

Well I received my file but I cannot get it on my tuner. Here is what they sent in the email along with the file.

Brian,
I have added the launch control feature to your tune file for you and have it
attached here. You can adjust the RPM that it is set at by reloading the tune
file and selecting to adjust the options and then selecting to adjust the
neutral rev limiter. If you have any other questions please let us know.

Now when I saved the file to my desktop, however when I go to load the file. I get this.

You pressed transfer file to device, that is for built in tunes from SCT, LFU and LBU.

Hmm I tried that one earlier as well and it didn't work. I saw that I had saved both the link to the emailed file and the file itself. I was choosing the link to the emailed file, stupid mistake :dunce:. Got it downloaded. Now my next question is so I adjust the neutral rev limit to adjust how high or low I want the 2 step to be correct?

Edit: Nevermind, read on the previous page it is the neutral rev limit that I adjust.

When you load your tune it will ask you if you want to change the options, there will be an option called rev limit (leave that alone if you don't know what to set it at) and "neu rev limit" which means neutral, that will be your new two step setting.

Yeah I read it on the previous page right after posting that, I scrolled through the menus while it was still hooked up to the computer and saw what your talking about. I'm heading out in a little bit and am bringing the sct to see how it works.

Okay so I just came back from a drive. Two step worked fine, however the car would not rev past the two step when driving in gear. Guess I'll have to tape the plunger down tomorrow.
