These cars take beatings like champs, 4 years of dropping the clutch at 5k for me.
Oh broke my clutch & slave last week though. but the car doesn't owe me a dime.
JLT Series 2 intake, off road x pipe, axle backs, CMCV delete plats, and sct tune. Clutch was slipping pretty bad, street tires, stock gears, best 60' was a 2.0, 13.5 @ 105.
I think I have the strongest 8.8 inch rear end ever to leave ford's factory. I have 200+ passes launching at 4000+ rpms off the 2-step (I adjust based on track temp and prep every time) with 10-12 pounds of boost. The rear end has NEVER BEEN OPEN. Stock from the left axle to the right axle (except for welded axle tubes) and still launches straight and true every time with the factory LSD and 3.55 gears.
1500-2000 rpm launches with 4.56 gears, M&H drag radials, and mostly stock. 409 rwhp on a canned SCT tune. Best 60' of 1.68 with most in the low 1.7's. Higher rpm launches didn't net me any quicker short times or ET's.
Diabolical I've got close to as many passes as you in my 06' but not all on slicks. Stock 3.55 gears, stock clutch, 26" mt et drag slicks launching between 4500 and 6000 depending on if I'm spraying or not. Best 60' n/a is 1.79 and 1.54 on nitrous. These rearends are extremely stout for factory parts.
For those of you with two-steps, is that an add on that works independently or does it require a tune. This is something I may be interested in for my car.
Get a wotbox, you get like 5 devices in one for $150 right now and you can change the setting via USB port.
IMO a better buy for your money than the MSD and a much cleaner install.
I use the wotbox for my 2-step, rev limiter and no lift shifting.
You can also use the shift light option and use it as a nitrous window switch. http://www.npcompleteperformance.com/wotbox
You don't program it while you're in the staging lanes. lol
You can get the MSD two step as well but it's changing little pills for different rpms I believe.
The MSD unit mounts under the hood and has two dials on it to adjust launch RPM. Very easy to use. From the unit, there are two electrical wiring bundles and a ground. One of the bundles plugs into each of your 8 coils. The other one gets wired to your clutch pedal switch and a key-on 12v source. There are multiple ways to install this one (top clutch switch, bottom clutch switch, proximity switch), but they are all very easy to do. I prefer the top clutch switch method as it is the easiest to wire with a rocker switch (not required) without the need for any relays. I've installed a half dozen of these kits this way and have reached the point where it can be done in well under an hour. If you decide to go with the MSD and wish to use a rocker switch, the wiring diagram I made in post #35 in this thread may help:
