Why are long tubes a pain in the ass?

I'm used to the sn95 platform. On those cars, I can see why LTs are such a pain in the ass to install. Both of my SN95/New Edges (one 96 and one 99) were 4vs and the engine bay was so tight I couldn't even SEE the manifold studs. With the 06 though, I can clearly see all the studs and nuts, they seem easy enough to access. Is it just a matter of getting the LTs in place?

Modding isn't supposed to be easy or everyone would do it, lol. I know all too well.

They aren't a pain in the ass, just time consuming. Engine mounts and starter need to come out, steering rack/shaft unbolted and engine raised with a jack. I think some LTs you don't have to unbolt the steering shaft but it gives you more room.

Yeah... if that's the case, fuck that. Shorty headers will have to do eventually

Install time seems to vary from person to person. Some people seem to run into issues during install. Not too long ago I removed my LTs, H-pipe, and hot rod cams and reinstalled the stock stuff by myself in about 10 hours. That's doing all the work in my driveway on jack stands.

Took me 4 hours my first time installing them in my 06 GT.

this, not sure why everyone thinks theyre so bad. ive done them a few times with just jacking the car up and without dropping the k. if your worried about it pick up a bmr k and do them at the same time, will make a ton more room

About 8hrs here too with a lift and taking my time. Could probably cut that in half if I were doing it again. It's really not that bad if you ask me and I found it to be a good experience once done. Where are you located?

Took me about 24 hours since the shitty Pypes headers didn't fit so I had to put the car all back together. That was 12 hours of learning fun.

PB Blaster is your best friend when taking the stock parts out. I can not stress it more to have the right tools. I don't have many tools and it made the job so much harder than it needed to be. I just had regular wrenches and that makes the job so much harder. Add that with having my wife help me and it is a recipe for disaster. When you get frustrated with something take a quick break and come back to it. That helped me a lot. Like I said before, if anyone needs help with this near me feel free to let me know because I didn't have any one else help me besides my wife and it was a challenge.

Can anyone put together a mock up list of "correct" tools for the job? In my mind I'm think jack, jack stands, ratches, wrenches, ratcheting wrenches, and beer. Anything else?

I would say there is a list of minimal tools and a list of helpful tools. You will need a good bit of ratchet extensions, those universal joints socket things, lucky for me I installed the bassani LTs and didn't need to take apart the steering shaft or jack up the motor. I did all the work on car ramps. I needed to pick up a 7/8ths wrench for the o2s on the cats. Deepsockets 13mm for stock studs. I would recommend a light that you can put up in the engine so you can see a little better. Sure I am leaving out a bunch of things.
