Pulled both heads. Driver side is good. New phaser on passenger side broke. Spring and timing fingers fell off when I removed the bolt. Pin snapped and that's what trashed the valves and pistons.
Fuck!

and of course my signature picture...

Broke dafuk down
Gonna TIG these Fucking phasers onto the new cams. Fuck this ford engineering bullshit.

The cam pin likely failed when the pistons contacted the valves. That is a shit load of bind on them.

How were your chains and guides? Looks like the Phaser failed creating your demise. Did you use genuine Ford replacement parts or the shit from Autozone? I only use genuine ford as aftermarket stuff is out there that is sub-standard to say the least. I know another guy that used autozone shit and his failed in little time also.

Are your pistons stock size? How do the skirts and cylinders look?

I have some valves but they are at Fox Lake right now. They are sending me my stock valves back when they are done in about a week. You need to replace the ones that made contact as they are likely bent. You should also inspect the valve guides or consider having some new ones put in (cheap if you have someone local to do them.. or have press setup to do them yourself).

Pretty sure the phaser failed which led to valve to piston issue. Regardless I think I'm gonna weld the phasers to the new cams.
Haven't pulled pistons.
Passenger side getting all new valves no matter what.
The don't physically look bent.
Phaser was genuine ford. Came from that place you guys recommend that came with a wedge too.
Pistons are .020
Chains and guides are perfect

Just for fun, did you pour some liquid into the combustion chambers to see if it leaks by the valve seats. If it does they are of course clearly bent even though you can't see it.

Lol no didn't think of that...
They hit the pistons... they are getting replaced even if they aren't bent. Not taking chances. Get it running...tuned...sold

If you happen to wreck it, total it, buy it back and part it out then you could get $30K-35K out of it. :thumb2:

Got the motor back yesterday. Had it back in the car in under 3 hours.

FYI install headers onto motor before going into the engine bay still sucks. Couldn't fathom putting them in the car.

Don't have a current pic but it's all together minus the mid pipe and priming engine oil. And front bumper etc
