Question for psfracer,

Didn't you recently mini tub your car and do something different with your control arms? I was talking to my cage/chassis guy/friend yesterday who will be the one bending up and welding the cage in and he wanted to know if I wanted to mini tub it and do anything with the suspension pickup points while we were in there. He does tubs and stuff all the time.

This may be the smart time for me to do it. I'm thinking that doing something like this from the start would be a lot less money than doing it twice. What did you do and was it a big improvement? Can you run bigger rubber now? I seem to remember a thread where you had pics, etc. Got a link or can you post them up here?

Thanks

That's the spirit!!!:boobies:

So it looks like me you and Crown are going for worlds fastest 3v. Too bad we don't have Coyote motors, we would go 6's for sure!

Lol... I can't keep a 9 sec car together lol.

You guys can go at that all you like. I am keeping ac, all my stereo and comfy items lol. Street car. Fast but drive it across the country if I want (with a small bag of tools that is)

I do love the manual valve body tho. Really should shift those like a manual of you have one setup for that. No more (D) and go. Hard on the clutches. I love my trans brake also. I use a circle d locking converter and my trans is setup with electronic od. 4r70w would be perfect for me if it was a little stronger or my car was lighter. I am shedding weight and going thru cash like shit thru a goose to do it too. You think power is expensive... weight savings is almost as bad

If this was all out drag car it would be power glide. If I could gear it I would have gone th400. I was not sold on the od for those but never really looked that hard into it as by that time I already had the 4r. Od is a requirement for me

I'll give you two weeks and you'll be in the hunt.:roflmao:

Yeah, little dick.. must go faster.

On side note.. your suspension savvy. You will have no problem dialing it in once you figure it out. Suspension is critical. All the power in the world means nothing if you cant plant it

Oh yeah, I'm all over that. I'm already looking at data systems (Racepack) that will run potentiometers on all four dampers so I can tell exactly what is going on. Then all I need to do is bring my suspension gear to the track and I can re-valve or re-spring right there in the pits.

IDK what I'm going to get for dampers though. I'll probably start off with something "cheap" and as things progress look into things like Ohlins and Penske.

I'll be 100% dorked out on the suspension stuff!

I have front drag brakes for sale for you

Yes, I mini tubbed the car. I also switched to a ladder bar set up and beefed up the 9 inch rearend. I run a 29.5 X 10.5W on a 15X12 wheel and have plenty of room.

That being said, you really don't NEED to mini tub it, especially if you intend on running the 275 M/T Pro. Also I am sure a BMR 3 link suspension with all rod ends could suit your needs.

At the risk of being flamed, the reason why I did the mini tub is I wanted to run a 30 inch tire and have the body sit over the tire, low, so the back didn't look like a 4X4. So I had the 9 inch rearend braced and narrowed 3 inches on each side. I also went with a very stout ladder bar setup, so no matter what direction I take the car in the future power wise, I wouldn't have to worry about the rear suspension again. Ladder bars are ridiculously easy to set up at the track. Car leaves nice and straight, every time. But, I am sure you could accomplish the same thing with a 3 link and anti roll bar with all solid ends.

As side note, the blue MMR GT500 car has a similar setup.

Yeah I am a picture whore. I readily admit it and take full responsibility for it.

I would like to avoid the 4x4 look too. Your car looks perfect! I'm thinking if all this stuff is getting cut up anyway and I don't have a rear end built yet this may be the time to do it.

Who knows. In the future the car could have a big block with turbo's. I'll be wanting those goodies then!

Hey psfracer

Are these the brake you run?

Cobra Jets use a th400 built by Joel's on Joy here in town... Can get you connected if you need. Also have a direct line to Strange for anything else- brakes, axle, etc... We've had a few cj's in here running 4-links, and plenty of quick ones running 'stock' style rear ends.

You might be the only person I've ever seen consider using high-end Ohlins or Penske dampers on a drag car.

A lot of people really like the adjustable stuff made by QA1 for straight-line use.

Yes I run strange brakes on all 4 corners. QA1 or Viking or Strange DA rear coil overs, can't go wrong really with any of those.

A LOT of the fast drag guys are running Ohlins TTX's now. Especially the small tire guys.

Are they those Strange brakes or do they have different "levels"?

I'll be honest psfracer. I want my car to look/sit almost exactly like yours. I think your car sits PERFECT! I hop you don't mind me copying you. The only major differences will be mine will be Vista Blue, it will have a GT500 front end on it, I'll leave the NACA ducts in the 1/4 windows and I will run black wheels, black wing and black accents.

What wheels are those?
