Unless the 6R80 shifts like a GTR, I can't fathom how an auto would be faster than manual from a roll. Of course if the manual drivers misses shifts, that's a whole another story.

My car has outrun several 600+hp manual cars from a 50-60mph roll to 130-150mph
It depends on gear ratio and converter.
My car can flash the converter(it's a 5,800 stall) from a roll in 2nd gear @ 50-60mph
Top of 3rd is 130mph in my car.

don't the 6r80s have "select shift" so the driver can control the gear ?

Yessir
I select shift to hold 2nd gear and when I take off shift back to drive and let ECM control 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts

They do have sportshift yes but if you have a really good tune on the car you don't need it unless you're going to do a rolling start on the highway or something. The auto shifts damn good, how many autos have you seen squall the tires going into 3rd n/a?

Took more than a intake and tune to run the 12.5 my friends 2011 did in 5000-6000' DA. Not sure how he pulled off a 12.2. Factory freak? Lol

Mine has run a best of 12.55 so far on reasonable DA and the stock tires spinning through 2nd gear a bit with just a tune and a O/R H pipe. I think if I had drag wheels/tires I would be very high 11'ish to low 12'ish times. Not bad for just a tune and a pipe.

It took a boss mani, 4.10, offroad x, drag radials, and a email tune for my friend to get a 12.5 in the 5000-6000'. Stock stall. So yeah yer results are definitely impressive.

4.10s are way too much gear and maybe he needs a better tune. Have him get one from MAP.

The boss intake and 4.10 probably hurt him more than anything. Only beneficial mods being the tire, tune, and pipe.

No, 4.10 gears are way too low combined with the very low gearing in the new Mustangs. With 4.10 gears you'll use up all 6 gears and run out of gear before getting to the end of the track.

Well, not really. But close.

Even on the street 4.10's are a lot of gear unless you like spinning tires all the time. I wouldn't exactly call that "fun". The 6R80 has steep gears already thus not needing much more rear gear than the stock 3.15's. Everyone gets to hung up on the number 3.15 gearing without understand the whole picture.

Maybe. The 4.10 are a wash. He wasn't spinning. I'm not sure how a boss mani hurts times. First I've read that. I know you didn't state it.

Jpc paxton car on a stock stall and gears ran 11.7 here. DA was in the 7000' range IIRC.

I don't think 12.5 ET was that off on my friends car. My KB 3v @ 8psi ran the same time in the same DA for comparison. Stock 2012 car ran 13.6 with stock stall, similar conditions.

Did you just say spinning tires aren't fun?! LOL

Don't forget. I have the 3V with 28.4" tires in the rear (NT555's) that get decent traction and 3.55s. So 4.10s would be so bad for me. I used to smoke the stock tires way too easily. Since throwing on the 295/45/18s I have to dump the clutch around 5500 to smoke them but it still launches pretty quickly. Dumping the clutch around 3500, no spin, it jumps off the line and I quickly mash the go pedal. Let's me get moving quickly without smoking tires. I do want more low end grunt though.

^ The new transmissions are similar to going up two or three gear sizes.

I have a 2014 with MT82 and 3.55 gears. It is waaaaaaaay shorter than my Bullitt with 3.73 gears, and my tires are an inch taller. I could run 3.15 gears and it would probably be closer to the 3650 with 3.73.

The MT82 with 3.73 gears would be like running 4.56 gears on the older cars.

4.10's aren't a bad choice for a 6R80 Coyote. I actually really enjoy the 4.10's combined with my 5,000 rpm stall converter in my '14 GT. Minor mods (see sig below). Lots of fun to drive on the street (it's a daily driver), and it doesn't do too bad at the drag strip (best ET 11.78 and typically 11.80's with 115-116 mph trap speeds). That's with a 100% stock engine, 100% stock suspension, factory wheels, and a loaded car weighing 3800 lbs (with me in the car).

The Boss Intake on an auto needs a converter, not gearing to be effective.
