Car should be lighter and make a little more power, yeah? Might be interesting
Im hoping for 3500# or so with no driver. I will go weight on a CAT scale after tuning is done.

Any certain event that you have picked out to run yet as long as the break in goes right?
First one may be the event in the South Central section here in Lufkin. I will hit the track as soon as they are open again to T&T. And yes, the new rig and trailer will be a life saver when we are sitting at the track sweating our asses off.

I think a new driveway pull will be extremely motivating! :beerdrink:

I may could arrange that soon. Looks like I will have a couple more days off this week so, I am going to heat the engine to temp with water in it tomorrow afternoon and then drain the water and remove the blower to pull the valve covers so I can re torque the heads on Saturday morning (have to work Friday) and then I have all weekend to tune! Just need to do the gears and CAI on Masons car in the meantime so Manuel can dial in his tune this weekend as well.

:handjob:

It's definitely the prettiest 8 second car that I know
That's the goal, 8.50s this year!

Are you worried about the rings seating with that much idle time?

No, I keep the rpms up varying rpm while it is coming to temp. That is also another reason I went back with molly rings again instead of SS. Moly will seat even after lots of idle time. Ive never had an issue with ring seating. The one time I used SS, it was on a know good tune so I could just go out and get on it with some timing removed to be safe.

Ok. Reading through your thread has me thinking about going with a moly ring this time around. I doubt I'll be making anywhere near the power you are.

I filled with water this afternoon and ran the motor to temp then waited 30 more min. and ran it to temp again. That was about two hrs ago and it is still at 115 deg.

I will re torque them in the morning and bolt the blower back on and button it up for the final time and give it a pull down the drive after a short cruise.

I need to watch it tomorrow as there may be an air pocket in the coolant system. Notice the coolant temp at the head is more then my gauge.

Waiting to cool down with two bolts on each cover.

What is that 5th one, fuel temp? What are you reading that off of?

Fuel rail pressure sensor.

Update.

So. I have all the re-torqueing done on the heads. What I don't like is that the nut did not pass the index marks I put on the studs and nuts before lessening them. I would have thought they would have at least went back to where they where. Oh well, it has all been done to spec and just waiting on dry weather to start tuning again.

I may re-torque them again after a couple pulls just to be safe. It really was not that big of a deal to pull the blower and do it. My kids car eat up all my time this week though.

I suspect the thread lubrication you used has wicked off the threads enough to cause slightly increased friction. Therefore you reached your torque spec sooner due to higher friction on the threads.

Makes sense, I only use motor oil though, I guess as long as they are all the same I should not worry.

After a small 2nd gear pull on the motor last weekend I decided that everything is well and had to wait till today to get a real 2nd gear pull in, so today I ran it to 6600 in 2nd and OMFG! Even pig rich with only 14*, it scared the shit out of me! The car feels WAY faster for this stage of tuning. I have sent a cold start, warm up, and 2nd gear pull log to Manuel and am waiting for an updated file now. Hoping to get a couple 3rd gear pulls in tomorrow. I think I am at the stage now where I may need to final tune on the dyno or at the track. IDK Lets see how the third gear pulls go. I am over powering the tires in 2nd from a 2500 rpm roll with 25psi in the tires. So, sorry Jim, no driveway videos this time, all I do is spin.

Also got the interior put back together and washed the car today. Still need to vacuum the car but, its all about tuning now!

Also added some stickers to the cars last week that my son got us for Christmas.
