How about no? lol

I did not think you would endorse that move.

Well this makes me feel very unsettled about my setup now

I'm sure you are fine, you don't have a heavy ass mandrel on the front of your motor like I did. I have a feeling that is where I went wrong. Although while at lower HP numbers, it was spun to 7550 tons for all of 2014 in the same Stroker configuration. IDK, I should have it out tomorrow though and we will know the damage this go around.

Sure, why not? You could be the first person to break one. That's some serious fame and notoriety!
That's not a title I want to hold.
He breaks everything else, whats another crank. lol
Come on man...

It's bad enough that I am home all day sick today and can't pull the motor, and you kick me while I'm down... lol

Corral.net always has people selling used cobra cranks. Typically cheaper than eBay.

That is if you are looking for used. If you are I'm sure you will have it throughly checked out

What I really want this time is a balanced RA that I can buy and throw in this block in my garage, but it gets a little complicated at at the 1k mark I am learning.

The csi will be interesting. The hole in the block is reminiscent of a rod poking out. Nobody ever seems to break rod bolts on these motors and there is no way one of your I beam rods took a crap.

Just for discussion sake what are you using for rod bolts? I'd guess ARP2000 at a minimum but probably a step or two up considering the rods.

A conversation with Mike at L&M could be fruitful. I would also say comparing what he could put a short block together for and you putting one together would be worth thinking about.

Yea, it will. I a was using ARP2000 rod bolts. I can see through the hole in the block that the #4 rod is beat up, but still in tact as well as the #8 rod. I can't wait to tear it down tomorrow. They both appear to still be in place.

I could have any number of big name shops build my motors if I wanted to pay that dime and wait on their time lines. Fact is, I will build it 5 more times before I do that. These failures are not from SB assembly.

The root cause will be interesting. It could be any number of things from one of the sleeves breaking loose, a ring land failing under that much cylinder pressure and tipping the piston, ring itself, a rod bolt that had finally stretched past it's plastic state, an unknown stress riser, or even something like a main stud making contact that just didn't show up or make a difference before the incredible load 25psi is putting on everything.

As much as I hate seeing your motor go down I must admit that your pushing it so far at 25psi and 11 (?) cr is showing where the weak links are and I find that fascinating. The fact that your motor spends most of it's life at wot is showing those weak links much faster than it would for most of the rest of us.

It is 12:1 CR and 24 psi, lots of pressure for sure.

Well time for me to get to work. I will post some pics tonight.

Don't have the motor apart yet, but it's out and I can see in the hole better. # 4 rod is trashed!

You have Manley Pro I-beam rods right? Are they they lightweight version or standard?

Yes and standard weight. Just need to pull the heads now. Crank feels smooth, even the piece of the rod left on the crank turns smooth. Fingers crossed for the head!

Well I don't like this either. I'm stock crank and turbo car hoping to make 700 to 750 on 20 psi so this is bad news for me!

Yeah, those of you that are worried about yours have to remember I'm probably pushing 1000 rear wheel horsepower now. With really high compression and a lot of boost on a Stroker motor. I'll try and get some pictures posted later this morning of the Carnage.

Damn dude. You did a number on that block. Was the head stud bottomed out in that bolt hole by chance? If you need a fresh block I have one that'd bare but been machined and ready to go.

No, I always make sure to back them off a couple turns before I torque them down

I have a block in the garage but am always looking for backups. PM me some $ info.
