I have the Saleen VI supercharger on my "06" GT. The S/C kit includes the idler, water pump, and alternator pulleys. For my particular application, I was able to re-use my original OEM alternator as the Saleen S/C kit requires reversing the direction of the alternator along with replacing the stock pulley. I did not have to swap out my alternator for one from an automatic car. As previously mentioned, the manual cars have a one-way clutch setup integrated into the pulley. Therefore you just change out the pulley by either using a 1/2 ratchet with 17mm hex socket for holding the shaft in place while removing the nut with a 22mm wrench or can also be removed with an impact wrench.
Yes, the alternator pulley can be used. The Saleen VI supercharger kit reuses the original OEM alternator. Only the pulley is replaced, therefore replacing the alternator is not required by Saleen!
msvela448, I don't know where you're getting info from? But the Saleen VI supercharger upgrade kit does not include nor require replacing the alternator from an automatic car. The Saleen series VI kit included only the water pump, idler and alternator pulleys. The shop that did my S/C installation replaced the alternator pulley with the pulley included with the kit. That being said, I can assure you that my car has the same OEM alternator prior to installing the Saleen VI blower!
I'm getting it from my personal ownership of a 2007 Saleen S302SC. And from the numerous articles on problems with the reverse rotation of the alternator when used in a Saleen S/C application. One of the recommended replacement alternators (Motorcraft anyway) is from a 2009 or 2010 Automatic Mustang GT. Those years specifically due to the use of the Denso alternator versus the Motorcraft 6G, and automatic version versus manual due to the one way clutch assembly.
Perhaps the Saleen S302SC is set up differently from the Saleen series VI S281SC version. I'm also unaware of any related problems concerning the reverse rotation of the alternator when used in a Saleen S/C application. What I can confirm is ever since the Saleen series VI S/C was installed on my car 12 years ago, there have been no related issues/problems with the reverse rotation of the stock alternator whatsoever. I can also confirm that my original Motorcraft alternator has never been replaced in which my car is a 5-speed manual. All that was required was changing the stock alternator pulley over to the alternator pulley that was included with the Saleen VI S/C kit. My car is also a 2006 GT model in which as far as I know did come with the standard alternator. IMHO it would appear as though the Saleen underdrive pulley kits are different compared to the ones made for their S/C kits? But that's just a guess on my part, therefore I really wouldn't know for certain one way or the other. At any rate, when the time finally does come around to replace my original Motorcraft alternator, it will be with the recommended Denso version from 2009-10 Mustang GT with auto trans which has the same pulley size as my current one that was included in the Saleen VI S/C kit. In the meantime, I'll also be very interested in seeing pics of the OP's alternator as I agree that his pictures would indeed help

Keith, if it were me I would list that kit in the parts for sale and get a Steeda kit. I couldn't recommend anything higher, really well done and no messing with the alternator at all. BTW, you will come around to the new way of doing things, I much prefer working on mine with sensors, scan tools, tuners, etc. Once you get your mind around what everything does it really is better. Yeah I used to listen for a ping and jump out, turn the distributor a hair and go again until I didn't hear any more knock so the timing was advanced as much as it could be, but now I plug in my tuner which is plugged into my laptop and run data logging software. Make a few runs, email my logs to Lito, he writes the tune based on the logs, emails it back, flash it into the ECM and it runs like a dream from idle to 7,000 rpm.
Keith, thank you for posting a picture of your alternator. As I mentioned yesterday, my Saleen S/C kit included an alternator pulley removal tool which is basically a socket with a multi-point star fitting that fits the alternator pulley. Using that socket with the impact gun, the pulley came right off. However, after reading over the installation problems you had thanks to Saleen sending you the wrong pulleys, I would follow Phil1098's advice and list the pulleys in the kit for sale or contact Saleen or whomever you purchased them from and find out if they'll provide you with a return authorization to send them back? I also agree with what Phil mentioned in his post that you would be much better off getting your underdrive pulley set from Steeda, this way you won't have to mess around with the alternator at all. In the meantime, we'll continue looking forward to your updates.
