Is it just me or is this kind of an oddball?

Going to look at some Explorers for the wife this weekend at this dealership, was seeing what else was on the lot, they have this '05 GT:

https://www.washingtonford.com/used...0a0e0ae934553072010e5f19.htm?searchDepth=1:11

So this car is a "premium" GT, but it does not have the bright trim package or the six-gauge cluster, and appears to have base model door panels. I guess there's a chance someone just replaced the door panels but how common is it for a premium GT to not have the bright trim package?

I'm not seeing any real differences between that interior and my 2009 Bullitt (other than the Bullitt stuff). Gauges might be different but 2005 was the first year. Ford always changes stuff up.

Run the serial number and that should tell the true story
funny you mention that...just ran it through a site that called it a "gt deluxe".

leather sport buckets, and a shaker.

Def a Delux with the leather interior which gave it the leather wheel and stupid chrome AC vent rings. Rest of the car screams Base/Deluxe

I found such a website too, it identified mine as a GT Deluxe with 17” wheels. But my 2006 GT has 18” polished aluminum factory wheels with spinners, and my door jamb data plate info is all about 18” wheels. Also my red leather interior is appointed like the Bullitt I had a couple years ago. So how is it that we can tell for sure if our GTs are Deluxe or Premium? And does it really matter much?

It's probably just a deluxe with leather interior and radio upgrade.

You've hit the nail on the head. The four-gauge instrument cluster and the door panels give it away as a base model but it's been upgraded with leather seats, a leather steering wheel, and Shaker 500 ICE system to give it a more premium feel.

My 07 GT/CS is a premium and it has the 4 gauge cluster. The dash face is charcoal (not silver), perhaps because it is a black on black car. Shaker 500

Edit: it does have the chrome trim around the gauge cluster and vents

My 08 gt is a deluxe to with leather. But mine has seat warmers. Some premiums don’t even have that.

Mine has dual full power seats and seat warmers, just no 6 gauge cluster...

I'm pretty sure all of the premium cars came with the IUP cluster, which has 6 gauges and the RGB functionality.

Most premiums will have 6 gauge and mycolor but it is actually tied to the iup option. Which is normally automatically added with the premium package. You can have a premium without it, my 07 is a premium package, special order though to remove iup. Which removes all the trim 6 gauge mycolor and gives you the non fall apart door panels lol. I did it to keep interior all black. It was cheaper that way for everything I wanted. Looking back only other change I would have made was left off the gt appearance package since I didnt keep the stock hood with scoop, the plenum cover or factory exhuast tips.
