Went to the track today with my 2005 Mustang GT. First time at the track with this car. No stock passes. The car has 25000 miles and has 410's, 3K stall converter, Ford Racing cold air kit, 28 inch tall drag radials, 127200 Comp Cams, and was email tuned by American Muscle. The best pass was 13.31 @ 101 with a 1.91 60 foot time. It doesn't feel like it is pulling like it should on top end and the MPH suggests that the power is down. I am considering putting the stock cams back in. Any ideas? Possible tune problem? Maybe try a 27 inch tall tire? I was expecting mid 12's so 13.31 really sucks.

The most questionable item listed is the tune. Absolutely invest in a real tune from somebody like Lito or VMP. Forget about your bargain basement $99 'tunes for life' because they aren't worth diddly.

So is VMP as good as Lito. I have read about both. VMP seems easier to get the tunes done.

I may be biased since I'm local to VMP and Justin has been a great friend over the years, but his tuning is still top notch. When I bought my 2014 GT I asked him for a tune. He sat at his computer and loaded his canned tune on a SCT4 while I waited. Took it home, loaded the tune and ran it for 5 years without a single hiccup or adjustment. Car ran like a raped ape but still perfectly behaved around town.

Obviously they can and will help you with datalogging and tune adjustments but in my experience it's rarely needed for stock or mostly stock configurations.

And since it was before your time here I also had a 2009 Bullitt Mustang which I built up and supercharged. Justin did 100% of my tuning and we ended up with a 643HP monster on pump gas (we hit 698 on race fuel). I ran mid 10's with a manual trapping 138+ mph.

What setup did you run in the Bullitt?

101 mph is pretty low, what is the 1/8th MPH?

Agreed on getting a tune, should make a nice difference.
I ran a bama tune for years just fine but it was the older bama with a few revisions and datalogging with american muscle.

Lito is a great choice for our cars, can't go wrong with VMP either.

I was running a bama tune 14.4 consistently. With the lito tune 14.0-14.1 I hear the cams reduce top end.

My mods
08 gt convertible premium 5 speed
3780 lbs
K&n cold air
Sr performance throttle body
Blaster coils
Street tires
Lito tune
Short throw shifter

Cam's move the power band up, if anything they reduce low end and improve top end.
I was at 12.5's so before cams, now in the 12.1 to 12.2's on average with the once in a while 11.9 (depending on 60 foot)
Picked up around 35rwhp from the hot rod "sound cams".

I keep very meticulous records... ;)
