Reading reports of a kid (SMH) running a GT500 10.66 @ 132.... WOW!!

An experienced driver in ideal conditions will likely beat this. Very impressive for a track car not optimized for the strip.

Of course an automatic takes very little to no skill, but still if an amateur can go 10.66 at 132, it would be reasonable to say a pro can do more.

Didn't appear in video he was having any problem hooking up by just using
what ever launch control it came with. I think he 60'd a 1.72, which ain't bad on
a street tire.

Evan Smith's video has been out for almost a month.
10.61@133 at Bradenton with a 1.75 60 ft. Get some drag radials on that beast and see what it can do.

Since the GT500 has launch control, even a monkey would get an ET in the 10s. The key figure is the 133mph trap speed. Assuming a race weight of 4400lb, this would suggest the car puts down around 700rwhp.

It's going to be real easy to run these numbers for the GT500!

One of the more rabid fanboys on the camaro forum..

"As far as the quarter mile video, I'll I'll hold off giving any credit until someone a little more honest does it. If it truly does prove to be a mid 10 vehicle then I'll give Ford credit for finally being competitive again after 6 years of darkness."

Brenspeed ran it on the dyno yesterday and got 684rwhp @ 524rwtq SAE.

These guys got similar results with 686rwhp SAE so that's an average of 685rwhp between those two dyno runs. A 10% drivetrain loss would have it right at Ford's claimed 760 crank hp.

524 rwtq? What's the Ford rated tq figure?

It's 625lbft.
If you believe a 10% drivetrain loss is correct, the crank numbers would be 760hp & 582lbft.
If you believe a 16% drivetrain loss is correct, the crank numbers would be 814hp & 624lbft.
Ford has either overrated the TQ or underrated the HP.

I'm surprised the 2020 Roush Stage 3 is listing higher torque than the Boss. Is that because of manual trans? Curious how much rwtq difference between an auto and manual? I've been told 13% is number for computing drivetrain loss.

Roush numbers:
750hp 670lft
0-60 3.6 seconds
11.2s quarter mile no speed listed
1.07 lateral g

It's amazing how many dyno operators still have their minds stuck in the 70s by using a 15% drivetrain loss (divide rwhp/rwtq by 0.85) for a manual and 20% (divide rwhp/rwtq by 0.80) for an automatic. That simply isn't true because there are so many variables, and modern drivetrains have become far more efficient. For any RWD car built from about 2010 onwards, 10% and 12% respectively would be far closer to reality.

The 2019 Roush Stage 3 has a Gen 3 Coyote 5.0L engine with an R2650 TVS supercharger set at 12psi maximum boost. Quoted figures are 710hp & 610lbft.
For 2020, Roush boosted the numbers to 775hp & 670lbft to eclipse the GT500 by 15hp & 45lbft.

I'd seen the 775 hp earlier, now on the Stage 3 website it shows 750hp, that is where I pulled the numbers from.

Yeah, I don't know how Roush found the extra 65hp & 60lbft. Perhaps a freer-flowing exhaust plus revised ECU mapping, perhaps another 2psi of boost, who knows? The Roush Stage 3 is certainly more bang for the buck than the GT500, but the latter is packed with more technology so the choice is down to budget and personal taste. A GT350 with a Whipple supercharger is also up there performance-wise and costs even less than both of the aforementioned.
