I don't see how you guys are content with the Coverlay panels. My car came factory with the diamond pattern vinyl/leather inserts, and replacing them with painted panels would seriously cheapen the look of the interior, IMO.

Painted panels would still be a big improvement over peeling inserts or what remains after you pull the original inserts off.

my '08 has none of the chronic issues. I wish someone would donate to me a '05 or something that had the fueling issues, I'm sure I could just solve it, possibly for free. Reasonably certain it has something to do with vapor leaving when filling the tank - it is meant to go through charcoal can - but you could retrofit a bleed that popped at a certain pressure to completely fix the problem forever.

Doors, a custom upholsterer can fix mine when the time comes. Me! My friend just bought a super nice sewing machine.

The shifter will always be bad even with blowfish. I have one. I have a design for a solid mounted unit that eliminates the stupid shoulder joints, but factory to build it in. My friend finally got a lathe and has a mill, so I expect to make a proto in the next year or two. There's no market for it so I'm not in much of a rush.

I'd do a dirt cheap 5.0 swap using the 3650, L&M cams, headers into completely custom fabbed 3" exhaust using mid mount mufflers. Would be awesome! Awesome! I wonder how aluminum 5.0 engine availability is these days Probably terrible.

I spent an entire weekend putting the american muscle leather inserts in. They really do look nice when done right, but they should be ashamed of themselves for what they are asking for them

I tried this route too. I went to the reputable upholstery shop in the area. I think a 3rd grader could have done a better job. I even took them the old inserts as a template. There were 2 spots the size of a penny where the outer fabric was gone and they had colored it in with a magic marker. Plus there was green painters tape stuck between the door panel and the leather. Let's just say I didn't pay them the $110 they were asking.

The fueling issue is so intermittent and station specific (for me anyway).

I swapped in '10-14 style door panels. It's a good looking door panel but a) the armrest on these ones feels like cheap plastic compared to the '05-09 armrest, and b) the inserts fell off these too

At least the inserts on these ones are a lot easier to fix and mine only fell off to that center stitch where the pony emblem is. You can put silicone behind the vinyl (which will definitely keep it on) and tuck the edges back in with a credit card or tint squeegee or something similar. I've already had to fix both sides and they've only been in the car for 2 years.

My fuel issue is resolved, about every 3rd or 4th time i fill up,(same pump) it stops at about half, either have to go real slow, or turn the handle upside down to fill. I heard it was an issue with the saddle tank....either it gets vapor locked, or flowback issues or something. I had it with my 05 and this 07.

if you don't want to worry about those little issues, buy my s197, those issues are fixed and it goes kind of fast

Did ford improve the glue on the door panels as I have not had the peeling issue. My car does spend a lot of time in the garage and still has less than 55,000 km (<35,000 miles)

Anyone tried these ones? I have their e-brake boot to replace my plastic one that broke when the pawl on my ebrake handle wouldn't hold and would snap down like a spring-loaded catapult.

The Coverlay panels I bought are black, as is my car's interior, so I can't comment on any other color or trim. I can say that he color and the grain/texture of the Coverlay parts are an almost perfect match to the surrounding door trim. Again, I couldn't be more pleased with them, and I'm pretty picky about things like this.

Lito can easily fix #1&2.
You are stuck with the shifter.
Door trim panels can be replaced for under $100. I think it looks better than stock.

Turn handle of gas pump upside down and tank fills with no problems.
I plan on keeping my 05 for a long time.

Right, but that's not how the inserts looked factory. At least not the pleather ones. They have a cool diamond pattern that sets the insert off from the rest of the door panel, and doesn't just look like its all one molded piece.

Reflecting on my ownership my bitches from my time with it include:

1.) Throttle by Wire. Hated it. Laggy, lazy feeling. I want what I command at the peddle, not what the ECU thinks I want based on other data it's collecting. I want a 1:1 action.

It’s been a while since anyone posted here but does anyone know the part number to the little flap behind the arm rest covering the torx bolt on the 2011-2014 door panel? I picked up a pair and they’re missing the little covers.
