Ive been meaning to do some posts for a while but I've been so damn busy! In any case finally here's some updates. I did make it to the track a few months back on May 1st, the weather already turned to crap though with 85+ degrees (at night!) and 2,500+ DA. In any case I did get the short times dialed in much better @ 1.25 60' (switched to Hoosier DR2's 275/60-15, slightly taller and wider than the regular DR's), all while only running 9.0's due to the high IAT's.

In light of that I decided to get a better A2A IC, here's the biggest one Chiseled Performance Sells rated to 1,500 HP supposedly, with 4" inlets. My old one also for comparison with the smaller 4" core. Hopefully that will help keep the IAT's down when ambient temps heat up!

Also switched over to a Tig Vision front support for more clearance and less weight

Fabbed a bracket and eye loop for a tow hook to connect through the nose via an opening originally intended for a fog light

You can see it in this pic, which also introduces the next improvement, a lightweight pin on hood.

I ordered a CF hood from Feather Carbon last year that just never came, I had to dispute the charge via PayPal and they refunded my money. I really wanted that hood but I ended up finding one I like just as much from VFN. It's a 5" cowl intended for their extended Pro Front end, that I cut back to fit a stock front end with the cowl running all the way back to the windshield. After the slow painful process of cutting it down to size, the next slow painful process was to install the Dzus rails and fasteners, along with a couple locking push button deals up front. Over all I ended up dropping nearly 30 lbs right of the front!

It's black primer but I kind of like it black, not so sure I want to paint it silver lol.

Hopefully this thing will kick some ass when the weather cools a bit and I get back to the track!

After playing with the 3v stuff for the past 10 years or so, when your eyes hit those GT350 heads for the first time they're pretty impressive, it's no wonder they run so good, HUGE difference over the 3v heads! I'll still probably open up the exhaust side some more, and sand paper roll everything nice and smooth.

If all goes well the block will ship out next week to get sleeved and reinforced, etc. Many details to iron out, most I'll figure out as I go, there's no turning back now!

I hope you are dealing with Tim at MPR in Boynton Beach. He is the Mod Motor guy to talk to.

Great upgrade Kyle, been some time since I've seen your thread. No surprise though, you always keep pushing the limits, can't wait to see you post a track run with this new engine setup.

Thx guys, not much to update yet, my block is at L&M at the moment waiting to get sleeved and reinforced, they do the sleeves in batches of about 20 blocks at a time at least 1x per month, so I'm in line I guess. They will also reinforce the intake side of the water jacket via filling it in solid, then drilling small holes for the water to circulate. So far the fun part has been trying to figure out what parts will be needed to get this Frankenstein motor to work! Mixing up Gen 1, 2 and 3 parts, along with some Voodoo, and heck maybe throw in a Roadrunner (Boss 302) crank LOL.

So I have some updates, some good, some not so good.. about 3 weeks ago we had a front come through and I figured it would probably be the last window of good boost weather for season before it gets sweltering hot and the track was open so I went. First pass blew the tires at launch, got back in it and went a 10.02 @ 152. Second pass was on a decent pass with 1.28 60' and 5.6x 660 then shortly after shifting into 3rd gear at about 145 mph it started sounding funny, and I smelled something weird, looked in the rear view and there was smoke ugh! shut down, pulled over and found a window in the block WTF! Ironically it still ran, although with a hell of a vibration. In any case loaded up and went home, tore it down and found the #3 rod came loose and exited at the #7 side. #3 piston spun around inside the bore lord knows how many times, the boost kept pushing it into the crank, I think, which in turn smacked it back up and made contact with the intake valves at least 3 times, broke 2 followers and even the lifter bore!

So after about 4 years of abuse, this motor finally bit the dust! I"m actually happy it lasted as long as it did, no real complaints. Although I"m not 100% sure what caused the failure, L&M said it's due to "uncontrolled combustion". The plugs got a little hot but nothing terrible, there was nothing melted, etc. There was weird data for the fuel pressure which was fluctuating a bit, which could have been my fault I made a bone head move and didn't add more fuel before the 2nd pass, so there was just over 4 gallons in the tank. Although I haven't convinced myself that's what caused it either. Possibly it was just a plain part failure. Those were Manley Pro I Beam Billet Rods, lightweight version though. I later learned you're supposed to use the standard weight for boost. Again not sure that's the smoking gun either. RIP my good little 3v motor!

Been gathering tons of info on my new build, so far got it down to 2011 Coyote block, GT350 heads, Boss 302 crank micro polished and double keyed, Manley Pro I Beam Billet Rods - Standard Weight this time..with L&M GT350 11:1 pistons. In light of recent events I happen to have a good 2014 GT500 oil pan available now, so a Gen 2 oil pump with TSS gears will fit the bill there. Still mostly planning and gathering parts, which has been much easier said than done. There will be custom L&M cams, I still need to decide which cam drive system to go with, maybe MMR, as much as I hate to say it. Or possibly JPC / RGR. All the timing gear goodies, etc. then Cobra Jet Intake most likely.

Started porting the heads. Mostly just removing the "V" channels, opening up the exhaust ports a bit and sand paper rolling everything smooth. I can now totally see why headers go up to 2" primary's for these!

I tore it down some more after work today, mostly everything looks pretty much the same as the day I assembled it, with a few exceptions. Most of the bearings still have the marks on them from the bore dial indicator from set up. The thrust bearing looks good:

Update: Four months in the making I finally got my engine block back today and it is sexy! Sleeved, reinforced, square decked, align honed, thrust bearing oil mod, bored and honed to 3.700!

Still waiting on crank and rods, which were also ordered months ago, and on back order forever and a day. supposedly a batch of cranks came in last month however they were bent during shipping and therefore deemed DOA. Another batch is expected within the couple weeks, same as the rods. Once received, I will need to have the RA balanced, then I can finally assemble the short block. Heads are ported and currently "in line" at HRE, a local racing machine shop. It's the hurry up and wait game!

Finally have an update, after waiting 100+ years for Manley rods that just never came in, I got a set of Oliver Billet Rods and was then able to get my SB balanced and finally got a chance to assemble it between last weekend and this weekend.

had some issues with my cheap pos summit rod stretch gauge so I ordered an ARP version, wow what a difference!

I also learned that modular oil pans do NOT fit coyotes! So much for my plan to run my old GT500 oil pan on my new build! Ended up ordering a 10 qt Moroso pan should be here later this week. otherwise just waiting on valves then my machinist can finish my heads and I can finish assembling the long block.

here's how it sits now, waiting for the oil pan
