Now that seems reasonable.I was quoted 700 this summer for doing a glass hood by a local shop. With my car being black how bad could Cervinis be?
Body shop who put my Cervini hood on said its the best quality glass hood out there.

When I lived in SA, I used Lone Star paint/body. They worked/painted several cars for me. It’s been a couple or three decades since, but they were tops back then.Or get quotes from other places. I'm in San Antonio, TX.
James/EBA, did you guys have your hoods prepped/painted by Cervinis and had to get them fixed after receiving or prepped/painted locally?
Curious about having Cervinis prep/paint the hood and just ship it to my house. I get the color could be off, that's on me, but everything I've read is the hoods are prepped/painted well. $550 for prep/paint is tempting. I guess if the paint is off I'm out $550, but may be worth trying vs. shelling out $1800 on top of the $700+ for the hood. I'm also going to hit up a couple of other shops.
Thank you!!
I have that exact hood. The vents come with block offs, so if installed as designed, the vents are non functional.Scramblr - I've been considering a Cervini's Shelby hood in order to get the heat extractor feature for my FR500S. I live just up the road from you in New Braunfels. If you DO get the Cervini's hood, I'd sure like to see it before you do any more prep work to it, especially if you get the Cervini's prep/paint.
My alternative is to buy heat extractor louvers and install them on my stock hood.
Please let me know if we can get together.

Over near Canyon Lake.
Does beautiful work. Fixed my woman's bumper, she'd hit a curb stop and sprung it loose on both sides at the fenders.
Another place quoted her a couple of grand.
He did it, and replaced the torn up air sweep underneath for $400.
Matches paint beautifully too.
Fixed my buddies 2018 maroon Chevy pickup, matched it perfectly.
Worth giving him a call.
I'm about an hour north of San Antonio. I just went through this last summer with the hood on my 2001. It's an OEM 2003 Mach 1 hood, I closed the factory Mach 1 scoop hole with a fiberglass patch, body filler, block sanded, etc. then I took it to body shops to get quotes for the final finish and paint. If Cervini can paint it for $550 then let them, unless this is a Barret-Jackson or Riddler car.
Quotes I got in summer of 2021 ranged from $350 up to $1k.
Number one tip - don't go to the mass production insurance body shop places, they're all about getting cars in and out, not custom work to please a "car guy". You need to find some places that are more mom and pop style, that'll be the best price and the owner will likely be the guy doing the work. I agree, it doesn't have to be perfect but it's gotta be pretty damn good.
Toss the hood in the bed of your truck, or your neighbors truck, and go over near the airport or industrial areas and find about 4 or 5 small body shops within a 10 minute drive of each other. That's what I did. I said hey I got this hood here come check it out, how much to finish and paint it, and show me some of your other work so I can see if you know which end of the paint gun to hold......in the end I paid a guy $600 and the hood looks mint. He also did my side skirts for that price. There was no written estimate, no office staff, and no T-shirts to sell at the front desk.
I have not been able to see any difference in cooling with the hood. I have also added the boss factory oil cooler. I cant tell if that is even worth the effort. It may make a 10* difference on track. I have not had any heat issues before the hood and oil cooler were added, or after. I think the hood atleast lets air out from under the hood and reduce aero-drag.Juice - your car looks GREAT! Have you been able to confirm that the heat extractors actually do the job? I like that hood but the racers with louvers are saying to install the louvers as far back/centered as possible.
Scramblr - call me when we can get together: 830-MAX-FORD. I live just off FM-1863.
Kyle - I drove past Quality Finish Solutions just yesterday. I've put them in my phonebook.
That's what I did a couple of years ago and can't see any difference in temps. I ended up not liking the look, hence getting the new hood...
Scramblr, would you be interested in selling your hood to me? I'd have the option of experimenting with louvers if I had an extra hood.
Absolutely, but looking at March. I'm going out of the country in March and want to make sure I'm here when the new hood arrives. So ordering in February since it's taking 6-8 weeks.
