I'd bet that procharger has a lot to do with it...lol

I could run a much bigger gap on the vortech. I do think you may be changing when you introduce the juice though...
Yea , maybe ! It will be fun to finaly hit the goal even if it takes the juice to get there.

While we are talking about BAS and blowout and all . I have the MSD cops and was wondering , are they just the same as stock or better or worse?

K/B really needs to put 96-96 only ! In my opinion there scamming people after those years !

I know , I know , K/b put it on one of there s197 with 15 psi and made an extra 50 hp :)

I was gapped at 32 and at 20psi had blow out so we backed it down to 15psi and no problems. i plan on running 20+ now so thought i'd get the bas.

And why not re-gap the plugs first before you spend money on a BAS? I run 21 psi and would have blowout too with a .032 gap.

Exactly. He should be at a .028 IMO - not buying a BAS.

I had the MSD COPs my car and one of them went bad after about 2500 miles and I went back to my stockers and never had a problem. Burcham makes over 1000 hp through the stock coils with no blowout and all he changed was upgraded the wiring so I did the same for this build.

So the verdict is Gap my Brisk plugs To .028 at 20Psi and forget the BAS? What do you gap the plugs at for 20Psi and a 35 Hp shot of Nitrous .025?

I measured spark at every setting on the SAB dial and also measured spark

What do you mean by "I measured spark"? Are you talking voltage? Current? The fact that it DID fire? Spark advance?

Remember how all this works: it takes x volts to fire the spark plug under the given conditions y. Either your coil can generate that voltage (and the plug fires) or it doesn't (engine misses). But it doesn't matter if you have a 1 Billion Volt coils in the car or BAS turned up all the way, if it takes x volts to fire the plug, that is as high as the spark voltage is going to get before the coil fires and the voltage plunges (as the current flows through the spark gap).

Upgrading the primary wire size is probably a very good idea. Manufacutures' tend to put the absolute minimum size wire in to meet the daily driver requirement. Larger wire would provide more voltage to the primary and higher current peaks (faster coil saturation). I can see where that will definitely help at the top end, especially if you are right on the edge of blow out.

I measured voltage and your post makes sense - thanks.

Burcham told me about the upgrading the wires idea after he suffered the same problem I had which was blowout in the higher rpm ranges and it did solve it but the BAS did nothing either way.

Nah - I wouldn't go lower than a .028

yes forget that BAS and if you do run into any issues which, as I said, I highly doubt, then upgrade the cop wires to 14 gauge.

But the verdict is also to ditch those shitty brisk plugs as well and get some HTO's...:beerchug2:

How much boost were you running? This was with the Whipple? Which heat range?

No - it actually happend on my KB at around 20 psi and I was using the coldest one they offer.

Just in comparing the tip design to the HTO's - I personally find them inferior. I know other people who have burned them quickly as well.

For the two-piece shit design we have to use, I have not found anything better than the HTO's yet.

I'm running their coldest plug as well, which I think are too cold for cold startup for me and I am going to try the 1 heat range colder plug and see if that helps me.

im thinking of upgrading these wires.....where do i start? did you just cut off the plugs, and solder 14gauge to the same wire at the plug?where do these wires go back to?the fuse box? did you upgrade the ground as well at the same time?
