How do you guys do that stock? I ran 9.0's in the 1/8th (supposedly 14.1's in the 1/4) bone stock :roflmao: Driver Mod FTW

Could also have to do with DA at the track you run at. Cars seem to be quick here in South Florida where we are at or below sea level. I can vouche for 03Glock I was there that night.

New guy here with an '07 auto.......my best ET bone stock with the factory Pirellis was a 13.69 with the rest were 13.7s and 13.8s at around 101 MPH before I did any mods. That was on a mid/hi 70 degree day at Beech Bend Raceway in KY. I believe the track elevation is between 850-875 ft. above sea level. I think the key to low ETs regardless the type of vehicle is cool weather, dense air, a sticky track, and practice practice practice. Cool web forum BTW. I am glad I joined.

Welcome to the forum! Those are respectable numbers for a stock S197.

What mods do you have and what's your current ET like?

I have no idea where they are but that time is old news so there's really no need for me to prove something all over again that I did in 2006.

Thanks Mark, Now my mods are as follows...Bama 91 tune, CAI, 3.73 gears, Violator mufflers(yeah yeah I know for sound only), and synthetic fluids throughout. The last time at the track in similar weather conditions as my stock runs I got a 13.33 at 104 MPH. The rest were 13.40s and 13.50s....The 3.73s really helped but made traction more interesting. My 60ft. times range 2.09 to 2.25 with the Pirellis. My weight with 1/2 tank of gas was 3796 lbs. I am getting Roush UDPs installed Monday morning at Modular Depot so I would like to go back to the track atleast once before winter. Without drag radials it's about as good it'll get. If I had a stick car I would probably be running 14s since I do not have the gift of shift.

Wow, for that weight that is pretty good. The UDP's wont give you much at the track, maybe a 1/10, but you will feel it around town for sure. DR's seem to be the magic bullet for these cars. Gettem' to hook out of the hole and you can shave .4-.5 off your ET's...

Tampa, FL but I'm going to run it anyway since if it runs a 7.5 et or better in the 1/8th and a 11.5 or better in the 1/4 then i'll be content, since that is what I expect it to run. The humidity and stuff will definitely slow it down but at least I'll know what it's running.

I will probably go with a stall as my next mod then DRs when funds permit.

i know the guy real good. the 12.2 was with a stick and full weight. there might be couple minor things i dont know about but he still has stock heads and manifolds for sure. the car does have a 100 shot but he runs 10.9-11.1 with that. the girl in the 13.0 auto car was tuned by the same guy that tuned my car. the mods i told you is all she has unless she has gear and just wouldnt tell me. she was pulling 2.0 60's on stock tire like it was nothin.

Wow 12.20's to 10.90's with a 100shot. Damn apparently my 100 shot isnt working right. I have to call BS on this. He is spraying more than a 100shot cause I have basically the same mods and built suspension, tubular k member and a arms and I am about 1/2 second off that number and I promise it aint my driven.

so i thought id chime in with my .02as well....

somebody mentioned the variablity of not only the cars themselves, but the different tracks (i.e. car A runs at track A with x mods runs y time and car B at track B with x mods runs n times).

my first S197 was a 2005 GT with an auto. i was following along with a guy from VA who had similiar mods to me but was racing at VMP up in Richmond, while i was going to No Problem Raceway when i lived in NOLA.

i had a C&L CAI, Bassani o/r x pipe, Bassani axle back, 4.10s, BMR lower control arms and a Diablosport tune from HPP racing (got it while evacuated to Ft Worth)

when i came back to Louisiana my first pass was a 13.3@104. best pass wound up being 13.2@105

The guy up in VA the only difference between our cars was he had 3.73s instead of the 4.10s. he wound up putting a couple of other bolt ons, such as underdrives and getting a custom tune and he was running like 12.7s@107.

lots of variablity, but i think with the "standard" bolt ons, gears, exhaust, CAI/tune, shifter and the most important....a good driver who knows their car these things should turn 12s in that trim.

Marc what track do you race at? You really should come out to the SSOTN event in November at Cecil. I would be happy to watch your passes and see if I can help you, you are welcome to make a pass in my GT if you want as well just to see how a different setup works. I went 12.8@108 on the stock Pirellis with 4:10s, Tune, JLT, pro 5.0 shifter, and mufflers. 12.6@107 on the same setup and worn Nitto 245 45 17 drag radials. 12.2@110 now with an alum DS, sway bar delete, LCAs, Catted X pipe and MT radials.

So the jist of this thread is that driver savy and a favorable track may be the 2 best mods to start with.

he hit 10.90s when the weather was really good. most of the time he runs 11.10s but im sure he has more done to the car than i know. i do know for sure he has stock heads and manifolds.

The driver mod is always at the top of the list. A good track helps. I run consistant 12.30s at sea level. I also run at a local track with a 500 ft elevation and it runs 12.50s there but I have never been able to get my 60 foot times down at the higher track either. BEst 60 ever there was a 1.79. I run consistant 1.69-1.72 at the lower elevation track.
