WOW! I am so sorry to hear this. I just installed the new Melling oil pump with billet gears just to ease my mind and now im really thankful that I did. Keep your chin up man but I really do feel extremely bad for you right now, keep us posted.

Wow, too bad, really sorry.

Please post findings once they check it up if you can.

I've seen oil pumps breaking as a consequence of other failure, BTDT.

I was just happy it happened cruising down the road not on the track or racing around. I Imagine I will be needing pistons also. I can not speak enough kind words about Everyone at Blow By Racing about getting me taken care of.
The shame about this is everything was bought from one shop and swears by their parts are the best R&D'ed parts.

Wow, so sorry man! That must suck like a kick in the balls. Hopefully everythings ok but the bearings. How quickly did you shut it down?

I was in the third passing lane on the highway, cruising along at 2300rpms. It took about 1 minutes to get off to the side of the road. White Smoke was coming out the exhaust and oil droplets as soon as the pump went out. The oil had a black tint to it, oil was new.

Did you hear a long, loud beep noise---which will sound when you have 0 oil pressure. Thats what happened to Kens car, the light on the dash came on along with a long beep noise when his oil pump went out.

Yeah its amazing how fast the bearings go south when you loose oil pressure. Just a few seconds is all it takes.

I hope the damage isn't too bad to the engine. Hopefully you can fix the engine in there, even though I know your building a bigger better one, a functioning short block will sell for more then a busted one.

well, i was going to look at possibly a built 5r55 as well as the 4r, but if the 5r is this much money, it would seem to make more sense to just go for the 4r

the price i got from fb was 7k installed for the trans, twin disc converter, brake, shifter,

Yes the cost trans alone vs trans alone would make the 5r55s a bit more expensive, but you need to take into consideration the costs of all the parts needed to make a 4r70w work in your car, like a new Torque Converter, Driveshaft, probably a shifter, and if you want it to be auto add up a Baumanator, relays and switches and so on.

If you get a built 5r55s you would be using all of your existing parts, though if they´re all stock and need to be replaced anyway then the 4r is the way to go.
