Drill Holes in my Whipple Blower???

Crazy but wondering if it's possible to drill a hole on each side of my Whipple 140AX blower right at the base where the intercooler/aftercooler attaches to it? I think the case is made of cast aluminum???

Still thinking of putting water injection on the car and don't think it's worth it to spray it pre-blower. Thinking if I can spray it right after the compressor it'd be ok. Problem is only way I can see spraying right after the compressor is to drill holes in my blower :)

A "spray plate" would be cool but I'm not aware of one for the Whipple and it's a tight fit under the hood as it is.

Steeda makes cmc delete plates that have bosses for nos/spray. Or you could just drill yours.

We will be doing this with a customer car, share your results if you can.

Yeah, I have no idea of problems this might cause. Just kicking around the idea.

I ran water injection on my old ProCharged F150 but it was easy to do post blower in that setup obviously.

It *seems* that if I was able to put holes below the compressor screws that I'd simply be on the discharge side of the compressor. I might take the blower off just to have a look. I don't remember exactly what it looks like under there. I'm also guessing that I'd get good distribution by injecting right at the compressor discharge area. The air would certainly be very hot and probably evaporate the water (and/or meth) fairly quickly.

All just a guess on my part right now.

What about pressure difference?

I went ahead and sent Whipple a message - will see what they have to say.

Attached a pic of where I think I might be able to drill. "A" being first choice. "B" another choice. One nozzle on each side probably.

Off the car of course.

How about running the line in the valley and putting the hole or holes on the bottom of the maniflold?

Hmmmm... have the nozzles pointing upward? I like that idea. Certainly not difficult to do with it all off the car. haha, I'd better be sure I get the nozzle size right I guess. Certainly something to think about. Wondering about how it would flow from the bottom, too.

or just have a spacer plate made that sits between the blower and the manifold. if your hood doesnt clear go with 1/2" drop motor mounts. done deal, you didnt fuck up your 6k+ blower and all is well

I like the preIC better because of a possible better distribution.

I will see if I have the pic still when I get to work

we tapped one for nitrous on the top of the "ramp" that leads to the IC core.

There is a company that makes a spacer drilled for meth that works great as well.

btw you do not want to spray up into the rotors, you will damage them
