well you will have to expect that. its got 1.1 liters on ya with better head flow. im assuming a early cts-v and not a c5 z...
It was in a camaro with 4.10s and 28" tall tires.
Top end was there for me, but he'd get me off the hit and when I'd grab the next gear until my car got back around the 5k rpm range.

Good to know...I have a Hurst Comp Shifter going into the car, Im hoping that helps a little.
I put in the hurst short throw. I like the shift but the linkage still binds up.

^ the lowest rpms i see in a race besides the start (depending on the speed) is 4900 and thats the 2-3 shift. otherwise it always shifts back down to 5 or a little more, shifting at 6700rpm.

Oh I see.....I have a motive 4.56 in mine. Is it better to go with the polished (lightweight) setup? Are they as durable?

The polished gears are worth something i cant really tell you how much, Just becasue its so hard to test.

as far as the light weight AX gears go we run those in alot of our race cars. low 1.3 60 foot times no major issues. I mean you can break anything at any given time.

This is how mine looked after I did them, Motive 3.90's:

I don't recommend the average Joe do this though, you do add a decent bit of noise to the car at highway speeds.

I've never ridden in a centri car, but I can imagine! Any gear set I've done this to has had this effect. I have an idea of how to lower the noise actually but I can't set up a rear end so it won't get tested for a while.

On a side note though we did a SBC stroker a few years ago, 383 with AFR heads. I did that same process on every single part of that motor. Pulling those valve covers was engine porn at it's finest!

Yes, the higher gears make some noise....my 4.56s were making a ton of noise and after pulling that cover back off tonight to recheck the backlashing we found that my spider gears in the differential were loose and looks like the diff needs to be replaced.

It's not the higher gear, it's the polish in my case. The faster the gear turns the faster it's shedding oil. My theory is this is creating air pockets between the ring and pinion which causes a "hum" that increases pitch as you increase speed after around 70.

Yeah I agree with that statement...I think I may look into a polished set of gears like yours. How much did they set ya back and where did you get them from?

 If I'm not mistaken Roush sells some, or you could send a set to REM.

If you have to ask...you can't afford it. :roflmao:

Had a guy at a show once ask me if he could do that to his crank on his own with some sandpaper and steel wool. I told him he'd spend less to let me do it :roflmao:

I can't tell you what it would cost but I would guess $100+

Ok, thats not all that bad...not sure if the benefits outweight the extra money being spent...plus noone is gonna see those nice polished gears hiding in the rear end housing.
