05GT with 09GT intake manifold?

I bought an 05 with locked motor and starting swapping in a new motor today. When I got to the Intake, the gaskets didn’t match. I had individual runner gaskets and this is a 1 piece gasket. Looking into it a little, it appears this has an 09 intake on it… am I going to have issues with this? Are the butterflies going to operate properly? Hoping this doesn’t turn into a cluster F*k. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

08+ 4.6 3vs had a revised Intake Manifold with integrated CMCVs. It will work just the same for your 4.6, but the intake gaskets are slightly different than the 05-07 Intake Manifolds.

Fantastic. I got gaskets at the local auto parts store for the later intake. As long as it will work fine, I am relieved.
How do I verify proper operation of the butterflies. Can I see their position in HP Tuners?

I’m not sure about HPT but I know there is a PID you can log with SCT LiveLink.

If they don’t actuate properly, you would also throw a CEL.

If the replacement engine is a 08+ it should also have the late design heads with 12mm spark plugs. It would require the coils with brown boots. That combination along with the factory cold air intake produced 10 more HP in stock form with a Ford 2010 GT tune.

Hi TGotschall,

At this time, HPTuners VCM Scanner software cannot read the Spanish Oak ECU's IMRC\CMCV PID position info out thru the interface thus you cannot see the CMCV operation.

The VCM Editor can only provide access to either enable\disable the IMRC switch (module) & IMRC position (I\O channel between the ECU & the IMRC module) & program the Schedule Opening Load % per RPM scalar..........the VCM Scanner is needed to read this IMRC\CMCV position data.

Just to put this here, I have been in contact w\ HPTuners concerning this issue for quite some time & have a support ticket issued to have this resolved (I have sent them copies of the VCM Scanner software showing that they have all this set up in their Graphs PID channels lists--to be used for filtering needs using graphs--but do not have any of this set up in their Channels PID lists--necessary for the VCM Scanner software to read\translate this data out of the ECU thru the MPVI interfaces......along w\ a wiring diagram of the SO IMRC control module to ECU to show the power source to this module & I\O path between the IMRC module & ECU so they can see\know what\where to look for thru the ECU firmware & a copy of SCT's LiveLinkII software showing this IMRC Angle PID being checked\used & the position data shown read out from it).

Without this IMRC position data, no IMRC Open\Close maps in HPTuners can be accurately recalibrated\tuned while the IMRC\CMCV control is in operation........only tuned when this system is disabled as both IMRC Open\Closed maps set up in the VCM Scanner will get populated w\ the same data in all map cells.......ECU is defaulted to only use the IMRC Open maps when IMRC\CMCV is disabled.

This has been kicked up to HPTuners Engineering Dept to look into\get resolved after confirmation of this being broken in the VCM Scanner software.............currently waiting on response from HPTuners as to status of support ticket.........hopefully get a favorable resolution response.

In the meantime, check thru the VCM Editor software that the IMRC\CMCV is enabled (both the switch & position I\O) & settings are present in the scalar, the DTC lists to ensure that all the IMRC DTC's are enabled & set to show MIL. Then check the BEC fuse #47 for 12v+ 15A power--powers IMRC Module.

If all this is true & the ECU is not setting any IMRC related MILs\DTCs (ECU checks\comms to this IMRC module during KOEO thru KOER), then the system is working.

Hope this helps.
