It's interesting to me that the much-lighter wheel and tire combo didn't perk up the trap speed more, especially since the DA was close to 1000' better on this last trip. Headwind/tailwind playing a factor? Or is the horsepower nosing over so much at around 117mph in 4th gear that it just doesn't want to go faster than that?

I, too, wonder what's happening at 117 mph. My 1/8 mile speed is up nicely, but the 1/4 mile speed didn't budge. Car doesn't shift into 5th gear until just after 120 mph, so there's room to stay in 4th. I've had the car into the 140-150 mph range on longer stretches and it pulls hard all the way there. It was rather windy on race day, though, with the winds changing direction a lot. I guess I just don't know what's happening. Racing again next weekend.

Due to budgeting and work the next time I will be out is the 19th... I gotta test before the NWHU series starts. I need to dial my set up in 3 runs. With slicks it should be fine, depending on track prep. Although for this series the usually put a little better prep in. There is a few outlaw 8.5 cars hot street and heavy street is pretty popular. Then there is the 8.60 index classes

Crazy the GT500 mufflers were good for 3 mph! How does the car sound with the xpipe and GT500s?

I've had x-pipes before and thought they were too raspy sounding. I have an O/R H-pipe this time with the GT500 axlebacks. Deep musclecar growl that's loud but not too loud. My wife and kids hear me coming home from a couple blocks away though - LOL. No drone of any kind at any cruising speed. Best exhaust combo I've ever put together.

I'll never understand why the AB's netted me 3 mph. That's why I document every change to look at all the variables (I have a big timeslip spreadsheet with weather, weight, mods, etc for every pass I've made in my last several Mustangs).

Someday we'll hit Bremerton on the same raceday! I love super close matchups.

Do you datalog every pass to see if any timing is being pulled? I've ran across some pretty bad fuel before. Not saying that's an issue, but another variable.

I haven't installed a rollbar/cage yet, and wish I didn't have to.

I've already received a warning from PR so I figure worst case scenario I can get one last hero pass at Bremerton before they boot me too..

Just a suggestion.

Get a certified cage installed and possibly save your life if something really crazy happened.
Like the guy in the other lane coming across and hitting you.
Or a Blow-Out, axle break and all the other things that can happen.
Better safe man then really sorry after the fact.

Pretty much running the whole schedule For NWHU. this is my schedule

You should come out and race in real street. 12.00 index class. you would have a little wiggle room at the top end if you needed it. .400 pro tree take a little getting use to. Come out and race

Worth looking at. I haven't been datalogging, but really need to.

Bremerton has let a friend of mine get away with quite a few low 11 second passes, but one 10 second pass in your Yellow Blaze will get their attention!

I'm going this Saturday hopefully. If not, then next Saturday for sure. This Saturday is a 'fun day' at my local track, so I don't expect a whole lot of track prep. It might not hook all day, we will see.

I appreciate the concern, but my car is only tracked a few times a year. 99% of the time it's street driven. While I have considered putting a cage in it to not be hassled by tech, I'm having a real struggle with losing back seat functionality for a car my kids do ride in comfortably and without wearing helmets when doing so, if they were able to squeeze in after the install.

Fortunately or, unfortunately it's very easy to make these cars quite fast and needing a cage to pass tech without much effort. I'm not the first and won't be the last pushing these cars while doing my best to avoid a cage.

I just read your latest post on how your's is actually used 99% of the time.
That being the case and since I do have a cage I can tell you your right on getting in the rear seats.
That just ain't even practical for sure.
I don't have children so I even went with a custom set delete package.
As we both know with cage getting in the rear would be a major pain anyway.

Have fun with your Mustang :rockit:

So, I just got all of last week's timeslips into my spreadsheet. Instead of looking at just my best run, it's enlightening to look at averages.

My average #'s from last week (with the big/little tires) are better than my average #'s the prior time out with heavy factory wheels....

R/T = -.004 vs -.012 (yes, I redlight sometimes - LOL).
60' = 1.630 vs 1.649 (improvement of .019).
330' = 4.768 vs 4.837 (improvement of .059).

1/8 mile ET = 7.413 vs 7.522 (improvement of .109).
1/8 mile MPH = 92.80 vs 91.37 (improvement of 1.43 mph).

1000' = 9.695 vs 9.843 (improvement of .148).

1/4 mile ET = 11.618 vs 11.804 (improvement of .186).
1/4 mile MPH = 116.83 vs 114.90 (improvement of 1.93 mph).

So, looking at pure averages reveals that the improvement widened down the entire 1/4 mile. Averages of all runs are probably a better barometer than "best" or "hero" runs from each day racing.

So, DA was better (although the corrections from Drag Times show very little correction for the DA's in question) and my car was 68 lbs lighter with the new/lighter wheels & tires. Overall, I'm very happy with the numbers.

Consider how much better it would be with the 3.15 and not having to go into 4th.
