Because I like to do track days, running a motor all out for 20 mins at a time is really brutal. The motor does not have a chance to cool off. Compared to drag racing where you just run through the gears in 10-11 seconds and you're done.

Tuner and engine builder want to lower the power due to running pump gas.

If I was running race fuel or E85, then it would be a different story.

Boost levels will probably be limited to 10psi or so. :(

i have been to many days at the track and all forged cars always have issues... The new camaro z28 is the best thing :p

They might be pushing too much power.
You can push a lot of power on the street and drag strip, but if you go on the road course (road race) you have to turn down the power.

I'd just be running two or three tunes. Track, low boost, race fuel, street, high boost, pump fuel &/or race fuel.

So, the motor did not perform as expected... sigh

As you know, my original ROUSH 2.3L blower w/VMP high-flow inlet, 3.0" pulley, and FRPP mono-blade made 14 PSI; 650HP/582TQ

Now, with this new build, the only changes are, MMR pistons which should be stock compression like the JDM ones. But the design is very different.

Just comparing the MMRs to the JDM leads me to believe the MMRs are slightly lower compression. But its just a guess at this point. MMR's design is much better though for boosted applications.

The only other changes are the VMP Tuning GenII case, VMP 67mm throttle body, and I had to get the supercharger rotors repaired by Stiegy. No other changes beyond that.

So, we noticed we are 2 PSI down from the previous configuration. We had to use a smaller 2.8" pulley to make 14 PSI, but we are still down 2.335 PSI across the curve spinning the blower faster!!

There is some speculation that maybe the throttle body is restricting the inlet of the blower?

VMP Tuning claims the twin blade flows within 50cfm of the mono-blade. And that they have made 850rwhp with it. Although at what boost level?

VMP says the GenII should make same boost at low boost levels and higher boost at higher boost levels. We did sort of see that past 6,000 rpm.

So I am down roughly 60HP and 50TQ which basically equates to 2 PSI; 30HP per 1 PSI...
Driving the car home though is a different story. This thing is a beast!!! Its been a while since I drove it last...but it almost feels more powerful, but I think its more than I got desensitized.
The car is definitely not slow...pulls like a mofo!!


Let me know what your thoughts are on the lower boost...
I am going to slap on the mono-blade and see if I get my 2 psi back. I got Stiegy involved...

More interesting data...

The new MMR pistons are -11cc while the JDM ones were roughly -9cc (9.8:1 with CNC-Ported heads, 10.3:1 with stock heads).

So I am definitely below 9.8:1 with my new -11cc pistons and 53cc combustion chamber heads (stock is 51cc).

Enjoy the drive. I'd just tear around a bit, sure be interesting if you gain 2 psi with that throttle body! Thanks for the info.

I am on a quest to know why 2.335 delta PSI with a smaller pulley.

It will be very interesting to see if the TB makes any difference, or if it's the pistons that caused that condition.

I can't see the pistons lowering boost. It's something upstream.
