I find it hard to believe that people on this forum can't calculate that estimate on their own.

I'm sure some of them can that would even be remotely interested.
The post was directed to members on here interested.
If anyone not interested looked at it and did not like what they saw I'm confident they instantly moved right along.

I thought the range would be .82-.85, not .8? I mean, it doesn't mean much anyways, and no one will really know, unless an engine dyno was done.

so terry just to confirm
do you not have the car back yet and the trans is just being sent out now?
It sounded like the trans was being sent out and the new shocks were being installed when it was brought in way back in January.
Did it really take a month and a half and all that was done was install a 50 shot of nitrous and 1 pull on the rollers?
For how much money you have spent at this place you think they would be a bit quicker with work.

You use whatever number you wish we use the .8 for automatic drive-trains.
We also use .15 for manual drive-trains.

I'm not saying the one's including us that use those numbers are exactly correct.
I'm simply saying that's what was used.

Lets be honest guys numbers are just that numbers so who really cares what they are.

I'm totally satisfied with the out come of mine and that's what really counts is it not ???

Pretty good numbers Terry.
Curtis, Thanks man :thumb2:

What do you mean if you are being serious.. kinda a dick response
how does what I wrote sound like I was making fun of you in any way? If I was I would have pointed out your bogus crank rating thats getting plastered all over your car like everyone else here.

On 01-28-2015, at 02:27 PM you posted that the car was at brenspeed waiting for some cams and at that point you posted "It is being pulled and shipped back to TCI for a complete "Re-Furbishing/Re-Build"

So when I ask why has it taken 2 months for them to send and install the shocks your ordered last year it out its a real question...

Terry, off topic a little, in sig I see 10.32 but that was back in 2011. Did you stop competing?
Charly,

Actually the Bullitt was never competing.
It was ran at Bowling Green, KY. to find out how fast it was.
That's the situation buddy it's actually a street car that can be raced if I want to.
At this point in time I will probably make some passes with it as I drive it.
So the times 1/4 mile ain't gonna be all that great.

Also if I was going to drag-race it with say M/T Drag Radials it is probably not any longer NMRA legal.
It has gotten to the point where it's ET's and 1/4 speeds exceed the 6-point roll cage etc.

It's just going to be a fun car to drive at this point when I get it back.

Guys,

I'm not going to get into some knock-down arguing with any of you.
But I will post something for those that just don't really know about RWHP numbers and Flywheel/Crank H/P numbers.
You can argue all you wish but as I said I'm out on that childish crap.

BTW, any of you that don't like Me, My Bullitt and the way I post ..........

Then don't bother coming over on my Thread it's actually for car-guys to discuss things not Smart-Asses !!!

Guys,

The .8 is just what performance shops use for the Auto Transmission cars.

They use .15 for the manual transmission cars.

It's not something I dreamed up.

Below is just one example and there are hundreds of opinions on the subject.

How to Calculate and Convert Rear Wheel Horsepower - CarsDirect

How to Calculate and Convert Rear Wheel Horsepower

January 27, 2012

Many muscle car enthusiasts are always looking for a way to calculate rear wheel
horsepower
on their successively modified vehicles. Rear wheel horsepower is the
amount of power that actually makes it from the engine through the drivetrain and to
the wheels of the vehicle. It's a useful indicator of performance that will allow people to
make informed purchasing decisions and modifications as they compare several
different cars and trucks. Unfortunately the conversion and calculation of rear wheel
horsepower is not as intuitive as you might think. It's best to take into consideration
the crank horsepower and type of drivetrain before making an estimate of whp, or
wheel horsepower. In order to make an informed estimate, a simple formula may be
employed. Just follow the steps below in order to calculate rear whp for most any
vehicle.

  • Determine Base Power of the Vehicle - Determine the base power
  • of the vehicle, either by having a dyno performed or by obtaining
  • the engine horsepower amount from the manufacturer (normally
  • displayed as crank horsepower).
  • Multiply Base Horsepower by the Appropriate Percentage -
  • Automatic transmissions are said to lose 20%
  • of the power from the engine to the wheels, while manual
  • transmissions lose 15%. To determine rear whp, multiply the base
  • horsepower by 0.80 if you have an automatic transmission and 0.85
  • for a manual transmission. Example: 250 hp x 0.80 = 200 rear whp.
  • Convert Horsepower to Other Measures - 1 horsepower = 550
  • foot-pounds/second, 33,000 foot-pounds/minute, 42.44 Btu/minute,
  • and .7456999 * kilowatts. Therefore depending on what you are
  • trying to convert horsepower to, multiply the total from Step 2 by
  • the appropriate measure. Example: 200whp x 550
  • foot-pounds/second = 110,000 foot-pounds/second.
Rear wheel is fairly easy to calculate as long as you keep the above steps in mind.

To those interested,

Guys,

Got an E-Mail from Brent (Brenspeed Owner) and he said for me to just ship my new Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires to them.
Also to ship the UPR adjustable coil over rear kit.
They are going to set the new TCI SSF (Super Street Fighter) shifting schedule for it so they need the correct tires under it.
So off it all went this morning by UPS.

I also had ordered Black stick on wheel weighs so they would blend in with my Black M/T SC-5 wheels.

A very cute little lady helping me at UPS.

Nick,

I'm probably one of the most friendly members on this site and have been for years.
I'll discuss anything about my Bullitt as long as it does not come across as some smart-ass-Bull-Shit.
Your multiple posts to me come across exactly like that.
But..............
If that's not been your intent then my "Apology" I'm a man so I don't mine apologizing.

I'm going to give this a try on what I think might just answer you.

I'm going to answer you under each one of your post so I don't over look anything.

See below to when I actually delivered it to Brenspeed.

No I do-not have the car back.

The TCI was pulled this week after Brent completed the DYNO runs.

The UPR kit was at my house as a local company was going to do that install.
Discount Tire was going to install the new tires front & rear.

No it did not take a month and a 1/2 to install the NOS.

It was my decision for them to keep the car until it was completed.

Now let me see if I can get you up to date on things.
The car was at Brenspeed for a long time simply because they (Brenspeed) were dealing with multiple 3rd party vendors.
Comp Cams was one of them that were making some special parts.
(That never did happen)
Brent then said to me I have another way to go about this Terry you interested ?
I said you can do anything you wish as long as the car stays 100% streetable.
He then went with the NOS Kit.
He then got ot on the Dyno and it went over the 800RWHP.
That gave me the number I wanted using the .8 for Flywheel H/P.

Now for those that don't know this keep reading.
Manufacturers don't always use RWHP in their Sales Brochures to the public.
I'll use the 2008 Bullitt Mustang as just an example since I own one.
Ford the Manufacturer list the 2008 Bullitt Mustang to have 315 H/P.
That's not guys at the rear wheels I promise you.
So since I go back many-many years and know Manufacturers don't always list RWHP I went with what they use, Flywheel/Crank H/P Approximate Numbers.
Also guys seriously keep what I'm getting ready to tell you in mind.
When you go to a car show.cruise-n the General Public does not know Jack-Shit about what RWHP is.
I know I have been there many-many times listing RWHP and instantly someone will ask what's that RWHP thing man ???
So to guys on Mustang Sites that are much more knowledgeable know exactly what RWHP means.
So in many cases when they see someone show the approximate Flywheel/Crank H/P it just simply pisses them off.
It's like I think they think someone is trying to jerk them off showing a H/P number to them that is completely Bull-Shit !!!
The bottom-line is each person knows what they are doing with their car and in each given situation both the RWHP as well as the Flywheel/Crank number will be used.

Guys there is no right or wrong it's simply comes down to what is that person doing with their car.

What do you mean if you are being serious.. kinda a dick response

Apology given ...........

how does what I wrote sound like I was making fun of you in any way?

I think I answered the, as you put it, bogus crank thing .........

Also answered the time frame ........

Yes the TCI SSF was just pulled and sent to TCI this past week.

Also the UPR rear coil over kit thing has just been answered.

Thanks for not answering my serious question terry but instead getting all defensive and avoiding the answer.

I'm way off the defensive and I think I have answered all your questions as best I can.

One more thing I will mention.
I'm not going to defend Brenspeed.
If someone has an issue with that Company then deal with them.
I'm not Brenspeed nor am I actually affiliated with them.
I'm a long time customer.
I will say this, if I was not completely satisfied with Brenspeed I would have stepped away many years ago.

My honest opinion is everyone should pick who they want to do business with just like I have.
