Been a very busy few days for me ..............
Hello all,
Well I decided to finally do a complete detail on the Bullitt this past Sunday.
So started early and got done around 8:00 pm that evening.
I jacked it way up and put it on jack-stands for safety.
As I actually slid under it and gave it a thorough cleaning underneath.
It took awhile but it did need to be done and it turned out pretty good for me doing it on my back.
Then I did the rest of it once I let it down off the jack-stands.
Cleaned the inside and did the vacuum thing as well.
Finally when I have it completely cleaned I put a coat of Meguiar's paste wax on it.
Never used the wax before but my thinking is it will hold up better than the liquid Meguiar's.
It went on easy enough but guys it's not as easy to remove as the liquid
so be warned.
In-fact my right hand & fingers hurt so bad I barely could hold the micro-fiber cloth in it to apply enough pressure to get the wax removed.
So I tried using my left hand more until even my left hand & fingers began to hurt.
It could be that I am simply a "Wimp" at this age but I've never had any issues with my hands before so.
My doggone hands & fingers hurt all night even after taking several Advil that evening.
Maybe it was the combination of lying on my back doing the underneath side first that contributed to it.
I'm not sure I will use the wax again though as it was not all that easy to remove as I said.
I took some pictures of doing some of this I'll post below.
As you can see it's pretty high up in the air for me to get way underneath it.
It turned out pretty darn good for lying on one's back doing the cleaning.
I also jacked up the rear also to do each wheel and the inner fender-wells.
Here is the New Meguiar's Wax I used this time.
The instructions said to apply to complete car and let turn to a haze before removing.
(I left it on for approximately 1-Hour) in heated garage to 70-degrees.
Here are some pictures of it completed but now it was dark outside.
So pictures don't look all that great.
Well moving right along .............
I decided to take it to DBR Performance in Springhill, TN. it is about 11-miles from my house.
GPS said it was like 20 minutes or so to it.
DBR High Performance
If you recall that's where several of my buddies have had their cars worked on.
Jon that owns Lexpro,
And also Tim that has the Red Mustang with the Whipple and runs on E-85.
So my thinking is if those guys trust DBR there is no reason why I should not give them a try.
They are a heck of a lot closer than the approximately 16-hour drive to Brenspeed in Pierceton, IN.
So mine was now completely detailed inside, underneath and outside with a complete wax job.
Monday was like 72-degrees here and sunny so an excellent time to drop mine off at DBR.
I called 1st and talked with John a very nice fellow.
He answered my questions and said to bring it on over and they would store it until they could get the parts in and do the work.
Called a neighbor to meet me so I would have a ride back home and off I went.
Met up with John at DBR, filled out some paper work and we went over what I wanted done.
QTP (Quick Time Performance)
.: QTP - Standard QTEC :.
I went with the (Low Profile Electronic Cutouts)
.: Quick Time Performance :.
And also their
(QTEC Wireless Remote Controller Kit)
The other thing I wanted them to do was (Relocate) my (Oil Catch Can).
That's what's been going with me for the past few days guys.
I'll be sitting tight waiting for a call from DBR next week to come get it.
