Same here Auto, mine took less than 8 quarts as well.

Have you run it with the full 8 quarts? Wondering if its OK for the next 3,000 miles or will I have to pull the plug and drain a little out. sigh

Do you know how much it takes to reach the full line exactly; 7.5, 7.75, etc?
It can't be much less than 0.5 quarts.

I know on my first oil fill, I had assembly lube from the motor build...I had a little more than normal and it bumped up my oil fill. But I pulled the filter and put a dry one in and it put it exactly at the full line.

When I pre-fill my oil filter, it takes roughly 0.5 quarts.

If I remember correctly, it was showing almost full at 7 quarts. I started it up and then let it sit. That's how I got the other quart in....barely. I'm still showing right at the top of the dip stick, but I have only put 1000 miles on the car this summer.

I would say I have 7.8 quarts in mine

Tonight I changed my oil for the first time. The exact capacity wasn't verified on the initial fill because I had a large spill due to a missing oil galley plug and had no way of determining the exact capacity. I assumed since it was labeled "8.5 quart oil pan" that it would hold 8.5 quarts plus about a half quart for the filter, but that isn't the case. Seems an even 8 quarts fills it just above the full mark. I drove it to dinner and checked it when I got back to make sure.

OK, so what is up with this FRPP 2013 GT500 oil pan!!??
Its advertised as a 8.5 quart pan and it takes less than 8 quarts to fill it?

I just changed my oil and 8 quarts overfilled the pan!!?? The oil level is way beyond the full mark.

Now what do I do...? sigh

How many quarts are you guys filling this pan with?

Here you go, Gerald.

Damn Skwerl, you're killing me... LOL

I filled with 8 quarts total...thats including pre-filling the oil filter.
Only used 8 quarts and the oil level on the dip stick is way beyond the full mark. And thats using a FRPP oil filter which I believe is a little bigger than the OEM.

Now the question is, can I drive it with the level over full without issues?
I think I can since once the motor is running, the oil level goes down substantially since its being pumped all over the place. So I can't imagine 0.5 quarts would hurt anything...

You guys agree?

Next fill I am only putting in 7 quarts and going from there.

Man, its just me but I would drain it back to showing as full on the dip stick. But that's just my OCD talking.

I don't know if an .5 quart overfill would hurt anything...like crank slap causing foaming etc... I wouldn't think so though.

Gerald, didn't you go through a big ordeal buying a custom dipstick? If so, that might be why you might have a half quart discrepancy from what I had. IMO put 8 quarts in and then adjust your dipstick so it reads full with that much oil.

No, I am not running the Lokar dipstick. I am running OEM (new one).

8.5 with a 5.8 GT500 motor. Didn't we go over this before?

Just under 8qts for me too. 5.4l GT500's have a pretty good sized oem oil cooler. I haven't seen the oil cooling system from the '13/'14, but I'd bet it holds the fabled 1/2qt.

The FRPP filter is exactly the same size as the OEM FL-820-S.

The crank is still miles away from the actual oil level, especially while the engine is running. Oil foaming is non-existent, unless you're running some crazy amount of oil (far more than 1 or even 2 qts above full).

5.4L GT500's run the same FL-820-S oil filter as you guys. Also, not all the 13/14 GT500's have the big oil coolers, yet the oil fill requirement is the same.

For what it's worth, this pan on my 5.4L with 8.5qts fills it right to the full line on the dipstick.

Re-opening this thread. Trying to find the pan kit for under $180 as several have mentioned that's what they paid less than a year ago. Has the price gone up recently? Couldn't find it on tascaparts.com and AM sells it for $240.

I just bought one from Tasca 2 weeks ago for $176. Part number M-6675-MSVT. I believe I got their last one at the time.
