The point I was trying to make is this:

The link that Doc provided clearly shows the part #571000 and rated for 650 hp. Well in the MM&FF ad on page 131, the same part #571000 is rated at 1200 hp. Why the difference? Did they change anything, etc? If it could truly hold 1200 hp that would seem to be a very reliable trans for the average 10 second street driver or 9 second track car for sure.

Thanks for the info Kevin, I am going to call TCI tomorrow and get the scoop.

A glide is definately going to hold what ever power you throw at it, but there goes the street car feel. It would be a great thing to see a 5 speed auto that will shift on its own and hold at least 1000 rwhp.

I could turn up the boost to 25 psi's and not have to worry anymore.

I called TCI tech line they told me they have no 5r55 trans that can hold to 700hp to the ground. They are working on it may be ready by the end of the year. He did say it will for sure not be rady this month or next.

I asked about the billet servos they say they have ready. He said they are not available. Sounds like just getting hype going until they have a real product.

I pretty much got the same answer, trans is not yet available and they had no pricing information either.

Could be 4 weeks or longer before it even becomes available.

I talked to them about 3 weeks ago and they told me it would probably be another 3 months on the new tranny

The 1.2K rated tranny is on sale now, $4,200

They even sell a rebuild kit with the parts used in that trans MINUS their servos (and thats what we really need duh...)

Spoke with Cameron Ext. 366 @TCI

anyone want to try it and tell me the results of it?

4r70w for me. No point in being a ginny pig for a bad designed tranny from the factory.

MMM....... how is a tranny that has held up to nearly double the power level of stock for a complete racing season a bad design?

It has a different print from jegs and another one from summit. Summit even have the names mixed with the both trannys from TCI.

But you can check TCI catalog with the correct part #

Sorry , I'm not going to gamble either .
We've been all waiting for a year and still nothing is proven , Ive heard them work well for 500 to 600 hp but what happens when your making 650 to 700 ft lbs. It seems there not as strong as a 4r70w.
The 4r70w is proven to be stronger

+1... when my 5R55S takes a dump (and it will eventually), that's the direction I'm planning on going. It's been pretty good to me so far, but I'm not going to put any more money into it.

It says that it has a manual valve body... Does that mean that we can buy that part separate?

I guess we will know on mine this spring when I put 700/700 +rw to it ( Larrys Trans 5r55s) in the spring. I have driven mine on the street with the race tune on this trans but that is not the same as a launch at the track though. I have launched it at 600/600rw and all was well with a 1.58 60 on nitto 20" DRs and a 4000lb car.
