I was so close to doing the auto to manual swap, but all the research I did showed that no one figured out how to get the cruise control to work after the swap. Do you have a plan for that?

It's a sports car. Why does it even have cruise control in the first place? Cruise control is for people who can't drive. It's inefficient and will kill your fuel economy as well, accelerating on every uphill and braking on every downhill trying to maintain a perfectly steady speed.

Supposedly the cruse control doesn't work in either 4th or 5th gear in my 6 speed T56 swap. I couldn't tell you though, since I'm not exactly sure how to turn it on in the first place.

Im running the Spec 2+ with the Spec alum flywheel. I never ran a stock clutch so I cant really compare it to anything. It begins grabbing about an inch or so from the floor. I kind of prefer it to start grabbing down low as opposed to grabbing at the top of the travel. My girls Z doesn't start grabbing until its almost at the top of the pedal and I hate it. I can tell mine tends to be grab a little hard when its cold but smooths out once its warmed up. Whenever it finally wears out I will be going to a Mcleod tho

As far as cruise goes, I have never tried to get mine working since my swap. I don't do much hwy driving so I don't really miss it much but there have been times where I would have used it. I do know you have to have a harness that connects to the clutch switches, the last time a looked it was about $95 from Ford and still not sure if that will make it work.
This might help too. http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50527

The transmission shop by me put a cheap 'stock replacement' in for me and it shattered on my 4th pass down the drag strip. The shop owner claimed to be my friend and was supposedly doing me a favor but my stock clutch was already gone in the trash and he fought me on getting my money back. Can't recall the brand name but it's a common aftermarket brand sold through the auto parts stores.

Third was an Exedy Mach 500. I was going for overkill and it worked awesome but the pedal was too heavy for me. It also engaged all the way down almost to the floor so it was a lot of work shifting gears. After 4 months I was ready to sell the car because I hated driving it. I ended up buying the T56 transmission instead. My signature picture was one of my first passes with the Exedy. It grabbed great and yanked the front wheels up.

Since I am just a bolt on car, maybe I should go with the Exedy Mach 350.. Originally I was looking at Mach 400 but I don't want it to bee too harsh for street driving on the daily.

I tried a few brands myself. The one I liked the most was the SPEC 3+. It is a hard on/off, but it will hold solid under the most aggressive acceleration I could throw at it. Had a spec three in the car with the TR6060 and the input shaft broke before the clutch slipped.
Yeah, that is extreme overkill for my setup lol.

Another recommendation for the stock clutch or Exedy. One thing I found that works well with aftermarket clutches is this http://www.shop.bondraperformanceengineering.com/Mustang-EZ-Clutch-Pedal-Extension-MusEZClutch.htm It gives you a bit more leverage over a heavier clutch.
Hmm Exedy seems to be pulling in the votes.

So far I have heard mixed reviews.. I sure hope I get to keep my cruise control, I do use it every so often.. I do take road trips in this car.

LOL, please tell me your joking about not knowing how to turn it on.

Lol, I happen to like my cruise control

Yeah I want a clutch to grab when I am barely off the floor.. Thats how my street bike is, the slightly letting out its grabbing and I am taking off fast. My buddies all have their bikes set up to grab almost all the way out and I think it feels like shit. Makes you ride clutch and slower off the line IMO.

If you find that harness, please text me and send it my way man.. I really want to figure this out.

It does come in handy when buzzing along at 85 on my way to Vegas. LOL
Yeah, I like my cruise control. Keeps me out of trouble sometimes..

Interesting link, it sounded like the OP got his to work but he never came back to the thread to confirm it. I spent a lot of time researching this and I haven't come across anyone that got it to work.

If someone figures it out and gets it to work I'd be in like Flynn.

Dealerships have lost their minds. I went to price a timing chain replacement and they were like you have to replace all these parts and it was like $900 in parts then they were like it will be about $2000 after labor too. I just turned around and walked off when he said those stupid numbers

I would have said "If you didn't want the job, you should have just said so."

Holy shit. That's about the same price that my TCI 'Street Fighter' 5R55S + PI 'Stallion' torque converter + TCI hardened input shaft was. Good grief.

It's not really a hard job either, I'd do 5 S197 transmission swaps for every 1 S197 header install. LOL

Ordered some more parts tonight, still haven't found much info about the cruise control but I will keep at it.. I like it for long trips across a few states.
