Personally....I like four valve heads. Just depends on which heads you use. The GT500/Ford GT heads are the best of the best. The 03/04 Cobra heads are next and are slightly better than the 3V heads if they're worked right.

For high rpm N/A use I wouldn't suggest using the stroker though. Rod/stroke ratio doesn't favor it. You'll make more power with the big bore and stock stroke & rod length. I also would not go to a 6" connecting rod with the stock stroke due to side loading the piston.

Thanks SD, I will keep the 4V heads on my list, if I can find a set if 05-09 Gt500 heads I will def go that route. I'll have to look into a new intake as well if I switch heads. I don't think the FRPP is gonna fit....

Pretty much a stock stroke steel crank and stock rod length. I would, however, seriously consider using Carrillo rods. Pricey....but very proven in long-duration high rpm usage. I'm not overly sold on using a sleeved block for that either. I'm sure it would work fine but you'd need to weight the costs of doing something like the Darton "Wet-Sleeve" setup versus the FRPP aluminum big bore block.

Cams would be an interesting chore. Wouldn't need a ton of lift but the duration would need to be more than usual in order to scavenge the cylinders effectively at sustained rpms.

Thanks. I plan to use the FRPP 5.0 aluminum big bore block #M-6010-T50 (I'm also not sold on using a sleeved block for this application) with Clevite coated H series bearings; CP-Carrillo pistons, rings and stock length rods; Kellogg forged crank; FRPP high performance oil pump; ARP fasteners; custom cam grinds (similar to a Comp 127500 designed for max power under the curve); VCT Lockouts; Comp Cams springs with steel retainers; RGR Stage 2 heads, Melling oil pump and achieve a 11.5:1 CR using 93 gas with the goal of a high and flat torque curve. I'm using 3.55 gears. These are my initial thoughts. I'm looking forward to following this thread!

I already have the high performance 3v heads and cams ready to go on the new SB. I can't justify getting a whole new top-end seeing as in how my current setup has less than 10,000 miles on it and I spent close to $5k building them. If I was starting from scratch today... knowing what I know... I would buy the 4v heads in a New York second.

The have been around and available for some time and bolt right to the block... I thought it would be too expensive to work out the intake and exhaust stuff.

Oh well... next time.

I have all the parts... I have a complete GT500 motor sitting.

I just never wanted the 5.4 or the weight.

So new idea

285cubic inch- lightweight rods 11:1 compression
Hogged out heads cams I have no idea on the 4 valve
New head studs
Moroso vacuum pump set up
Intake... I will make adapter plates to my frpp one

Apparently the 5.0 4V heads flow a little better than the GT500 5.4 heads, I am sure with light porting though that the dual injector Ford GT heads are the holy grail.

Do you have the COPs and all? Are the fuel rails reuseable? Also would you need up the injector size?

Your currently running 39#ers and aftermarket fuel rails correct? So you should be ok

How about jesel hardware in them 4v heads.. Or is there any roller hardware you can put in them?

And on the jesel topic has anyone actually tried that shit in there 3v heads and seen gains? Doesn't jesel claim like 30hp due to less rotating friction?

300 lb weight break for 4v heads in Pure Street Matt...
But with a max cam lift of .480 for the class this might be the ticket

Count me in on this all motor thing. I dont have anything too extreme right now, but I just may have something up my sleeve for the future when I can afford it lol.
